I remember a couple years back Lowry used to do really good against the Grizzlies. I still remember back then Conley didn't look impressive at all...
What a coincidence Conley doesn't have Westbrook to worry about either. Beverley and Conley are playoff flukes.
Pretty good write up. Don't understand the unnecessary Lin bashing. Obviously he had a sophomore slump and he still improved every game and played injured at the end of the year. Lin will be a good player and all these bashers will find a new forum to hate on. You guys act like Lin killed your teddy bear. Jeez grow up.
I'm glad you do. I like them all too. It must've been coincidental that he picked Chinese food to describe Lin. But why doesn't he share his creative menu analogies with us regarding Conley? He was on a roll.
Conley was actually a lottery pick. Vastly different. His story is certainly nothing compared to Lin's. Conley was doubted a little bit but Lin was not offered a scholarship in college. Bad title, don't be dropping food on the floor, cockroaches would come out.
Well, but he also would have gone to a good b-ball college, get drafted and led a normal life. Quit the hate.
I'm not even sure whether you could call it slump. He wasn't given the free reign to play the style that set the bar of expectation initially. In general, he has to adjust his game big time to the coach's liking while feeling the impact of surgery for at least half the season. After the ASB, his numbers wouldn't suggest any kind of slump.
You have to look at it in context. He is entering his fourth year of his contract. When he signed it, he was coming off a year in which he averaged 12 points, 5.3 assists and 2.4 rebounds in 32 mins of play. Those numbers will get you around 8 million a year for a starting pg. Look at George Hill, he got his 8 million a year deal when he averaged 9.6 points, 2.9 assists and 3 rebounds a game. It's funny how people on this forum think that 8 million a year will get you an all-star pg. When the truth is that it's around the lowest you can pay for a starting pg not in their rookie contract.
Thanks for the info. Its a real eye-opener. Because after reading this forum you'd think Lin was not worth his contract but in fact Lin is playing way above what you'd expect for an $8m point guard!
Mike Conley has always been underrated. But the reason why he's finally being recognized as a second tier PG (sorry, not in the first tier) is Hollinger trading Rudy Gay away. When your backcourt is Tony Allen and an aged Tayshaun Prince, the responsibly of backcourt offense and playmaking is now Conley's shoulders fully. And he's done a great job both offensively and defensively in the playoffs and also since the Gay trade. But let's not get carried away. Just look at his postseason shooting percentage.
This is actually not an insane comparison. Previously I've seen Lin compared to CP3, Nash, Kidd, and Tony Parker. Those were all silly bordering on insane. This is not so bad.
I dont know why some people on here get all personal over nothing. You started a pretty interesting debate pimp. This is a sports forum right, lol ...And yes there has been a s*** load of topics about Lin, so what he is a Rocket. So Andy carry on and great topic...
Lin story is big not because he is Asian, it is an underdog story. His is a guy that was cut by a few teams then get to the Knicks as a bench warmer and then lit up the city. You may be correct, if Lin is black, he probably received an basketball scholarship and this would never have happened.
