Lin is doing just fine for a guy who had to adjust playing off the ball. Remember Lin and Harden had to develop chemistry off the fly and they have done a reasonably good job. Look at Lin's last 42 games compared to his first 42. Scoring and efficiency all went up and his 3 point shot was around 38%. Also superstar point guards aren't really needed on championship teams. If your best scoring option is the point guard then you won't be winning anything anytime soon.
Definitely achievable since Lin shot 40% in the last 42 games of the season (is that a large enough sample size?). I think we'll need more than that to be scary good. Curry shoots 42% at high volume and GS aren't scary good... that's with a pretty good cast surrounding him. Definitely a superstar PF or C will help no end.
That Lin was able to shoot nearly 40% from 3 for over half of an entire season is a great sign. Specifically from 1/18 to 4/17 this past season (42 straight games), Lin shot 39.6% on 3.2 attempts per game. I did a little digging and it turns out that the players that have accomplished this feat this past season are generally well-regarded 3 point shooters in the league. My specific criteria was to look for players that for over 42 or more straight games averaged more than 25 minutes a game, shot at least 39.6% from 3 on at least 3.0 3 point attempts per 36 minutes: Ray Allen Ryan Anderson Carmelo Anthony Trevor Ariza Shane Battier Bradley Beal Steve Blake Jose Calderon Vince Carter Mario Chalmers Wilson Chandler Stephen Curry Carlos Delfino Jared Dudley Mike Dunleavy Kevin Durant Randy Foye Danilo Gallinari Paul George Danny Green James Harden Gordon Hayward George Hill Kirk Hinrich Ersan Ilyasova Kyrie Irving Jarrett Jack LeBron James Brandon Jennings Kyle Korver Ty Lawson Courtney Lee Kawhi Leonard Jeremy Lin Kyle Lowry Kevin Martin Wesley Matthews O.J. Mayo Dirk Nowitzki Chandler Parsons J.J. Redick Nate Robinson John Salmons Thabo Sefolosha Klay Thompson Martell Webster Deron Williams Mo Williams
If you dont like Lin then be a Gizz's fan or Hea's fan or something. If your a truely Rockets fan then you know this is the first year this team had assembled them. It will take some times. besides we are lacking in depth at the 4th spot. This is a TEAM BB, so it's a team effort and you cant blame one player for the lack of success. You guys are prolly those haters who hate Obama because he is black. Well, get a life and stop sitting on the couch and watch your sports on TV.
If people could just ignore the extremists, this place would be much less chaotic. There's one thing to be a Lin fan boy, but another to be a crazed mother freaker. The latter are much easier to spot and ignore. This applies to the trolls from NYC also. Lin had an average season. He's young. He has potential. He had a terrible post season. He needs to be a more efficient scorer. But, if he continues to improve at his current rate, he'll be a good player. He suffers from Eli Manning syndrome. Whether he plays well nor not, he doesn't look pretty doing it. Heck, I cringe every time he shoots.
I'd take Lin over Conley; neither are exceptional, fantastic, or irreplaceable. Both are good sort of like Lowry or Dragic. Neither are even CP-lite.
hahahahaha... this is so spot on. i do like his no-look passes though.. he looks pretty good throwing them.
Hey guys!!! At least we are making progress here. Before the season started "some people" were comparing him to nash, cp3, and tp. Now at the end of the season its mike conely. Not that mike conely is bad, just not cp3 elite xD
This is a new criticism that I've never heard before until recently. Nobody except LOH's on Clutch has ever seriously accused Lin of playing an ugly game. He received a ton of praise during Linsanity for playing like a classic PG.
I love how on this board the NBA is a magical place where black people walk a street paved with gold and Asians are victims of segregation. If only Asians could be black they would be so lucky! smh People around here act like Jeremy Lin had it harder than Ron Artest or Thomas Robinson or even Patrick Beverley or a thousand other players. Poor Jeremy! If only he had been born with Ron Artest's skin color and Jeremy Lin's skillz, he would have been a first-round draft pick
That's obviously not true and has absolutely nothing to do with what I said. Way to take things out of context. What's up with that? You're saying Lin doesn't deserve a scholarship in college and doesn't deserve to get drafted? Mind you, I was only responding to another post.
I think you meant to say, Poor us. If only we were born 6'3-7'0 with above average athleticism and all the hard work and desire in the world then we'd be making millions while fanboys fight on the internet over a game that really has no effect on their lives whatsoever.
Guys, cut it out. If Jeremy Lin was anywhere close to being Conley, we would still be in the playoffs. Aren't they the same age?
No way, Conley has been in the league for quite some time. 4th pick in the 2007 draft, same as Oden and Durant. and yea, Lin isn't anywhere close to Conley. The way Conley is controlling the game right now shows you how much he has matured, all the little things when he isn't hitting his shots.
Trying to see what your point is here... In athletics, being Asian DOES mean you're probably going to be very discriminated against, and it's one of the few places in society where being Black gives you an advantage over everybody else. Why are you so infuriated by the obvious fact that there are certain stereotypes about Asian men that easily lead others to unfairly doubt them in things like athletics?
Cries of "LOH" and "racism" in the same thread. We have a dud on our hands here. I do like the wishful thinking though. Lin as Conley would be a FANTASTIC piece to this team.
This comparison is just stupid. Last I checked Conley doesn't hand the ball off to Tony Allen 75% of the time and stand in the corner while Allen ISOs or trys to play PG. What I do see is Conley always bringing the ball up and initiating the offense, stuff a point guard gets to do on most teams.
