I think Denver should just keep him, his never really gone out and said he doesn't want to resign with Denver. Hell If Denver is smart, there are some good players with expiring contracts, they can trade for at this trade deadline that will help them increase their chances at going to the finals. Which could convince Carmelo to stay... Ex: Tayshaun Prince Tracy McGrady Troy Murphy Joel Przybilla etc... Basically, I think they should keep him and try to convince him to stay through winning, and if that doesn't work out there's always a sign and trade...
With Lakers ageing demize, I think they already have a very good roster in place to make it to the finals... If they can add some needed size or scoring off the bench I think that can put them over the hump..
Trade for Melo and Nene, lose Scola's contract in the process and in the Summer, sign & trade Melo to NY for Chandler and Randolph. During the summer trade Martin/JHill for a lotto pick somewhere and save some cash. 2011-12 Rockets Lowry/AB T-Will/Lee Chandler/Bud Hayes/PPat/Randolph Nene/Miller Chuck will be our new starting PF and let PPat and Randolph battle it out for the successor role. Develop the draft picks from this season and look to move Miller's quasi-expiring deal by the deadline next season.
He's had a strong team in Denver for a while now, all of those guys mentioned would be downgrades. If he were more than a glorified role player then Denver would easily have made it out of the first round more than once by now. But alas...
Hmm... possibly convince Melo to sign here and we'll go after CP3/Deron Williams and Dwight? Tell Melo we're gonna clear house in 2011, put him on the INACTIVE list for a fake injury (to prevent injuries), and then go out and get Dwight and/or Williams/CP3 in free agency in the summer of 2012.
Explain to me how we will be able to land Melo without losing AB, KMart, Lee, or PPat? Do you think Denver will just take Scola and picks?
Yao's semi-insured contract, Scola, JJ, probably Hill, plus the 2012 1st rd pick could be a workable deal. I did it on the fly so move a few parts around and something could be worked out. I won't trade for Melo unless Nene comes along. We need a center and without one, acquiring Melo is pointless, unless you think Chandler, Gallo or AR could blossom into difference makers IMHO.
For all of u saying all Melo cares about is the money and glory, and that he doesnt give a squat about winning... cmon dude, the guy is the biggest walking trade rumor in the league and is still playing 110% for the Nuggets
Melo is coveting that money too much. He can sign with NY as an FA this offseason. Sure, he might lose millions on the transaction, but he'll still be making good money and he's already made very good money for years now. If he really wants to be the hero in NY, wants to pair up with Amare and make the Knicks relevant again, just give up the money. It really won't hurt so much once it's done.
We'll convince Melo to extend, we'll sign Dwight Howard in 2012 so the buddies can play together. And possibly sign CP3 or D-Will. Dont need Nene after that.. We'll have our own big3 here
Lol brilliant post. People forget that Melo is essentially trying to do business with one of the most successful business people in the world. Guess who's going to win 99 times out of 100?
Melo is r****ded. He should go where ever is the best situation for him. Who cares what his wife wants. Im sure his career is much more important than hers. Going where she wants should be secondary to where he really wants to play at. He should go to where he will make the most money and have a best shot at winning. NY seems like a good place but there are other teams with better offers. Melo and Lala are both wealthy enough to own a home and private jet so Lala can go to NY whenever she pleases. BTW, Im sure Melo makes way more than Lala so she should let him choose where he wants to play.
Omg why can't Melo get traded already. The trade has gotten far too long and it is killing the Nuggets. Let's get this over and done with Cmon.
Melo right now should be going to any team with a superstar already for the best shot in my opinion. So the Rockets is out of the picture. To me him going to NYC would be a BIG relief. Changing conference and going to the East would also give him a better shot seeing the fact that the East is a lot "easier" than the West. What I see is that Melo plays the rest of the season and then later during the offseason proposes a sign-and-trade deal with the Nuggets. To me that would be the "correct" move, giving your former team a last title run and then at the end giving them some players for your departure.
