let me tell you something ,I never said it was not entertaining. I liked it. It was a good movie. My point was do not be fooled into believing that this movie started the whole martial arts genre. It was a good film, I saw Reloaded and plan to see Revolution. Back to my point, the Matrix is not the ultimate display of the martial arts and that the wire stunts they used was taken from HK films. This movie did not do it first. Anyway it was very entertaining and I can not wait for the next you to come out.
This looks awesome...Can't wait... The teaser trailer at the end of Reloaded sucked arse... It took a while, but I finally saw all of the trailers...I'm glad the frenchman is in this...He was hilarious...
Why is there so much arguing in this thread. I agree that the 2nd one somewhat dissapointed, but did you just watch that theatrical trailer. Um, that looked great. Some people may argue that the story has taken a backseat to the special effects, and maybe they have. But I'd still argue anybody who has any sort of opinion on the movie at all is probably intrigued to see how it will end at this point. Fortunately, that trailer made the special effects look pretty cool too!
The fighting scenes are awesome but I don't think that's the only reason that makes the Matrix a good flick.
a. who the **** said the matrix invented martial arts? i thought it was the stopping in mid-air and bullet-time stuff that got them all the acclaim. at least that's what i knew of it before i saw it. b. how can anyone diss the greatest action sequence in cinematic history, the 14 minute car chase scene? even my friends that thought the movie was so-so thought that part was great. c. i remember the night reloaded came out, this thread about on this board was filled w/ nothing but rave reviews and "it exceeded the hype" type comments. now it's disappointing and was just ok. d. the story is still great b/c there's so much figuring out to do. the whole architect scene opened up a lot of stuff for discussion. e. why do people think the first was better. technically, i didn't even see the first 40 minutes of it (and the rest i saw on tnt) until after i saw reloaded but there wasn't near as much action and it took a long time to get going just by explaining what the matrix was (which was the 40 minutes i hadn't seen but already knew all of it). reloaded just seemed so much better. f. revolutions is gonna be badass (along with return of the king). damn i can't wait.
francis 4 prez: b. how can anyone diss the greatest action sequence in cinematic history, the 14 minute car chase scene? even my friends that thought the movie was so-so thought that part was great. Well, I just did! As for it being the "greatest action sequence in cinematic history", well... I'll give you credit for being a fan, but I certainly wouldn't agree. c. i remember the night reloaded came out, this thread about on this board was filled w/ nothing but rave reviews and "it exceeded the hype" type comments. now it's disappointing and was just ok. Dig up the thread. I remember saying that I enjoyed it, but not as much as the first one. And that the car chase was too long and took up too much of the film. d. the story is still great b/c there's so much figuring out to do. the whole architect scene opened up a lot of stuff for discussion. I agree about the architect scene. That's why I came up with my idea for ending the movie. It opens up that wildly unlikely, but possible, way to end the trio of flicks. e. why do people think the first was better. technically, i didn't even see the first 40 minutes of it (and the rest i saw on tnt) until after i saw reloaded but there wasn't near as much action and it took a long time to get going just by explaining what the matrix was (which was the 40 minutes i hadn't seen but already knew all of it). reloaded just seemed so much better. Hey! No wonder you are so impressed about "Reloaded"... you didn't experience the wonder of seeing "The Matrix" fresh in a badass theatre. f. revolutions is gonna be badass (along with return of the king). damn i can't wait. I can't wait either, francis 4 prez, I think they are both gonna be killer flicks. And I think the whole "martial arts" argument is stupid... who cares? The Matrix was a great flick, whether it got some ideas from other movies or not. The only totally original movie ever made was "Blade Runner".
The fight scenes in reloaded were insane. Over all I liked the movie, except for the stupid scene with them raving, when all the humans gathered in that underground cave place...that was pointless.
I care about it because I'm a fan of the martial arts choreograher, I don't like ppl downplaying his work. It's nothing important anyway. So I'll let it go.
Nobody is downplaying his work, he did a great job. but the martial art scenes were not the reasons why most people were as impressed by the Matrix as they were. It was the different styles of shooting the martial arts scenes that were called revolutionary, not the wire-fighting. that said...would yall believe I still havent seen Reloaded? Im waiting to buy it on DVD on Oct 14th.
You'll enjoy it, R2K. It's good. I didn't want to give the impression that I didn't like it. I just expected something a little different. And I just liked the first one much more. I'm hoping the third one will blow everyone away.
First one exceeding everybody's expectations, was interesting, refreshing and had the advantage of being the best sci-fi movie in years. The second one was obviously made with the pressure of the 1st in mind. It was simply unexceptional. But then, it was a film that was destined for disappointment. Generally, great sequals have great plots and dialogues. You knew from the beginning that wasn't going to happen.
