Here's the horrors of what the Democrats did, in Massa's own words: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/03/09/eric-massa-and-glenn-beck_n_492441.html And yet, the only evidence he could summon was basic and formulaic types of political pressure. "It literally keeps me awake at night," he said. "Glenn, I have had people come to me, union leaders -- and I'm a union guy and I know you're not -- who look at me and said, 'If you don't support this health care bill, I will not contribute to your campaign'. Glenn that's a bribe." Even Beck wasn't buying it, pointing out that what Massa was talking about was, in fact, just lobbying. ... Through it all, Beck prodded (indeed, practically begged) Massa to point to specific cases where the chief of staff or anyone else did something legitimately corrupt. He couldn't. "My arm has been twisted 17 times from Sunday," Massa declared. "It is called whipping." The Fox News host seemed completely and utterly un-amused. And towards the end, he grew a bit hostile. "America, I've got to shoot straight with you," he said. "I think I've wasted your time. I think this is the first time I have wasted an hour of your time. And I apologize for that." How horrible!
This is Twilight Zone stuff. A total loser douses himself with gasoline on national TV while being interviewed by a Looney Tune.
Rude yes but not innapropriate. Even by Massa's account he didn't do anything sexual and they were in the Congressional showers. As far as rude being a vulnerability it didn't seem to stop Dick Cheney.
Or Rumsfeld. Guiding principle to both, more like, along with disdain for any and every audience that wasn't worshipping them.
a naked rumsfeld wasn't poking people in the shower. Readers react to two men kissing. Rahm and Massa?
as someone said on the radio yesterday: It's no longer ask not what your country can do for you, now it's like it's if you drop the soap in the shower, don't pick it up. That's where the level of national discourse has fallen under this administration. most ethical congress evah!
You must have missed out on what was actually said and done. Those are showers where people shower and talk politics all the time. This was nothing unusual. In the end the things Massa was talking about were the same things that have been done for decades. Those things are part of everyday politics. They weren't overly hostile, or inappropriate in any way. basso with another swing and a miss.
As I said before; people who were apologists for the last administration and their tactics have no right to lecture the Obama Administration or the recent congress.
The hypocrisy is a bit overwhelming, even for someone like me (or you, for that matter) well-accustomed to standard american political rhetoric.
"no right to criticize..." a particularly peculiar position for a putatively progressive person to promote.
junior and prince of country where 15 of the 19 9/11 hijackers came from junior and gay male escort/"journalist" jeff gannon
It's funny. Glenn Beck couldn't find any ammo to use via Massa, but basso continues to attempt to use him as fuel for some imaginary fire. basso more ignorant than Beck? Intriguing.
Apologies for being away from the thread for so long but there are other interests. Despite Batman Jones' disbelief, I was curious about how a Democrat with an ax to grind was going to affect, or not affect, the political arena. After listening to Massa, I don't believe he will have any lasting effect at all except to further fuel the growing disdain for members of Congress. However, that in itself should give teaparty advocates more leverage in the coming elections, and that is what is important (at least to me). http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100310/ap_on_go_pr_wh/us_poll_obama_and_congress
