SunsRocketsfan, honest question here: If you were (I know, shudder) Obama, what would you do? And let me lay it out from his perspective. 1. You believe very strongly that the country MUST have significant healthcare reform. Economically, the evidence seems obvious to you. And you simply see it as the right thing to do, even if it damages you politically. 2. Despite your hopes, one entire party has declared this issue to be your "waterloo" and it looks like they will do anything in their power to obstruct the reform. They make noises about cooperation and their ideas but they are willing to wait until you are out of office to take the issue seriously. *You* as an Obama critic may question these two points. But for fun, try to get in his head, accept #1 and #2, and tell us what you would do. Seriously.
I'm not sure about my political intent being obvious, although I purposely expressed how I feel about this health care bill. I am curious about how the general voter populace is going to react to Massa's allegations and how posters here feel about how it will -- or won't -- affect the health care bill and, potentially, the 2010 elections. This gives me input on the pros and cons for perspective purposes.
If you're a Dem supporter who is tired of the Party of No blocking passage of the bill, I'll repeat that it's about time the administration start playing hardball. Wtih the GOP and their own. If Massa was not mired in a sexual harassment scandal, his allegations might have a little more traction and sound less like sour grapes.
I assume they are trying to coerce everyone. Isn't that what they do in Congress? Seems like a non-story.
Batman, how does your comment advance either a pro or a con position? You're just unhappy not everyone suffers from your brand of tunnel vision. Could it be that you have been in your cave too long? You have the ability to debate rationally and cogently. I've seen it. It's just that you haven't done it for so long, perhaps you are out of practice.
I think the Democrats need to learn from the Republicans on how to twist arms and ram through legislation.
its really sad that people totally ignored this abuse of power, and how obama and the democrats get criticized for normal tatics. americans need to wake the hell up, healthcare or not
it's really sad that these conservatives never complained when WAR was being shoved down peoples throats.. but go crazy now that HEALTH is being shoved down peoples throats..
I don't think there is going to be much of a Massa effect, if that means that there is going to be a huge outcry regarding Massa. I think there is probably some political retribution in Massa resigning and can also believe that Rahm Emanuel tries to strong arm people but at the sametime Massa made himself vulnerable through his innapropriate behavior.
SunsRocketsfan, Post #21 was addressed directly to you. You've said you only hate Obama because he's making horrible decisions. Okay, please step through a response to post #21.
Another wishful thinking thumbs narrative bites the dust. Conservateabaggers can't run away from this guy fast enough now. LOL.
Rahm's supposed inappropriate behavior wasn't sexual in nature. And of course we have no idea if Rahm is actually guilty of said behavior. Massa has plenty of different stories circulating. They are contradictory and can't all be true.
