Threads like this make me laugh. We live in a day and age when people scream, b****, and moan about spoiled, overpaid athletes that don't work hard enough and don't give a damn about the sport they play. Then you have a guy who's bio is the exact opposite of that which we claim to so boisterously loathe and you pile on him as well. Karl Malone is a guy that took less money because he wanted to play for a championship in L.A. Karl Malone is a guy who repeatedly took less money to stay in Utah because he wanted to build that franchise into a champion when he could have signed a $100 million contract elsewhere. And even competing for a championship in Utah is a major accomplishment because here is a franchise that was never going to spend money to surround Malone and Stockton with the kinds of players that are needed to mold a champion. Karl Malone is a man who works his ass off in and out of season so that he can do his job to the best of his ability. You may think the man is dirty (hell he is) and you may think the man flops (he does), but the man has dedicated himself to his preofession in a way that is sadly becoming old-fashioned in this country and I respect that.

And then there are those of you that act like Malone is a loser because he never won a ring himself. This guy is going to walk away from his NBA career as the league's all time leading scorer and his longevity is going to be near unmatched by ANY professional athlete. Give the man some freakin' credit for what he has accomplished in his job. This is one player that, ring or no ring, I have no problem referring to as a winner. I really can't think of many better examples of a winner than Karl Malone. Anyone that doesn't want this guy on their team has their head so far up their backside that they are allowing past personal vendettas between Malone and their favorite team to cloud their judgement. If you're an NBA GM and Malone shows up on your doorstep asking for a million dollars to play for your team, you sign him up immediately or you're fired. That's reality. I'll now allow you to return to your comfortable fantasy land that you are all creating in this thread.
