why not malone? rocket almost beat lakers in at least two games. If malone was in our team, i say we could of gotten those two games .
Some relatively new fans here will never understand why we hate Karla so much. You've got to be there back then to truly understand why so many people here hate him with such a passion.
Not surprising...didn't the players actually vote him (or was it Stockton) as the dirtiest player in the game once?
I'd rather have FOUR PLAYERS on the court instead of having Malone as our PF. That guy sold out his team for the Lakers. Even Jazz Fan doesnt like him.
My point was, this is the forum about basketball fans opinion. Basketball is a game, not like politics. Whoever win or lose in basketball doesn't really affect anybody except for those who make money out of it. That's why we can just laugh off intense emotion about a player. We can just laugh off comparison between Malone and Hitler. If, on the other hand, we compared an American political figure to Hitler, that's another matter. That's something serious. That's why I told you to lighten up. Fan loyalty is BOTH to the team AND to players. I have fierce loyalty to the Rockets. That doesn't mean my feeling toward all players on the team must be the same. Disliking a player on the team doesn't necessarily mean I am not loyal to the team. Same with hating a team but liking some players on that team. I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say. Players aren't just abstract entities that produce points, wins, etc. for you, like in the fantasy league. You dislike a player on your team not just because he makes your team lose. You dislike him as a player AND AS A PERSON. Same with your love of a player. Otherwise, how do you explain why many most popular players aren't the best players? It is true that if a player helps your team win, you usually like him. But sometimes, you dislike a player AS A PERSON so much that his production for you doesn't overcome the intense dislike. Malone is such a person to many many fans. It is alright that you don't dislike Malone so much. As I said, you don't have to rationalize it. Hatred is a very personal and irrational thing.
My preceding post answering Moonbus pretty much answers yours too. It's not just the team. It's the team AND the players. When Horry and Cassell left, I did not suddenly hate them. I might hate the teams they play for. When a player I hate (e.g. Pippen, Oakley) joins the Rockets, I don't sudden like him simply because he is a Rockets now. I can still cheer for the team. But I don't have to like every player on the team. Sometimes, when a player you hate intensely joins the team you love intensely, that would torn you apart. But intense emotions should be part of being a fan. That's all I was trying to express.
Yeah, and he also said that we should not give up more than Francis for TMac, because they are equal.
He did? If he did, that's pretty poor analysis for a would be NBA analyst. Just makes one thought and sentence come to mind. I miss Calvin Murphy.
I'm not Jewish, so I might be off here, but I think there are ample Jews who wouldn't find the comparison to be funny. Hold it, where is that coming from? Karla, ZMaster, Quitten, & Stockton are players/coaches that I would never like to see be associated with the Rockets. Just because I'm trying to be subjective about a topic, it doesn't mean I'm on Karla's side. I do understand what you are saying and I agree with you, but I don't think you understand what I was trying to point out... Again... poster A ripping poster B for B liking a player so much that he wants the player to remain on the team (using the reason of team success should come first), but then poster A turns around and says "I hate Karla so much that even if he can help this team, I don't want him." So are we saying hating is more important than liking?
I didn't say it correctly. What was funny was not the comparison. It was the one who made the comparison. We've had some "official" Jazz hatred threads. Just look at those posts that proposed all the ridiculous ways they wanted to treat Malone and Stockton. And there are a few similar posts in this thread too. I don't suppose you take them too seriously, do you? Same with the Hitler thing. Ok, fine. I thought you were arguing that since Malone could help us win, we should embrace him inspite of who he was. Also, I respect the strong feeling of the whatever-only-fans. That doesn't mean I don't feel their constant yepping of the same thing tiresome.
ever since he was in utah i never liked him. he was like a black cowboy, now he in da la. and think he black now and stocken to. i hate utah period.
http://www.makingpages.org/hoops/Malone.danger.html Who ever made this sight kicks tail. Please don't ban me.
I hate Karl Malone more than any player that has ever stepped foot on a basketball court....... but in his prime i'd still take him in a heart beat. He is one of the greatest players of all time.
