Win by cheating, flopping, playing dirty, acting tough and pick on little guys and crying constantly? No thanks. I'd rather kill myself.
If you were a true Rockets fan, you would hate Malone. That motherf***er doesn't even have the right to wear red and white.
AB was on the Sports station this morning and they were talking about this. I really didn't think Rockets fans liked Barkley too much but he was accepted with open arms. Barkley had his run ins with Houston players during their championship run also and that didn't seem to matter. So I assume alot of you guys would have gotten over it.
winnng cures everything. i'd get over Karla's prior antics ... for a championship. you know fanaticism has become madness when Karla gets compared to Adolf.
Oh god, to make this worse SportsCenter is about to do a thing on why the Lakers are 'America's Team'.
Is the choice Malone or no one? Or is it something like, we have capspace and we can sign someone else with the capspace? If we can sign someone else, hell no. If it meant Malone orn o one, I'd need to think real hard, but probably end up saying yes.
agree with one of the posters......only if we could burn him ourselves. Karla, first player to be killed by his own team's fans, LOL.
Hey AB - I was driving from Houston to Austin this morning so I actually heard you on 610 on Vandermeer's show when this came up. You were great - congrats on sounding good on the radio - it's a difficult thing to do. Anyway, to answer the question (and I really really wanted to call in and argue this on the show): HELL NO. Here's why (and some rejoinders to Mark's comments): 1. Karl is a dirty player. He doesn't fit the makeup of the team. He is the antithesis of what the Rockets have always stood for. 2. The *casual* fan/homer/Houstonian would want Karl on the team, which is why Mark is probably more correct than we'd like to think. The *casual* fan will cheer for anybody and not care about the dirty play. 3. Barkley is different because as you said, he respected the Rockets and Hakeem after getting tossed in the playoffs. He willingly acknowledged getting beaten. Furthermore, he didn't beat the Rockets in the playoffs. Karl and the Jazz, meanwhile, beat the Rockets on a last-second shot while the replays show he is clearly holding (the dirty part again). This is critical. We could take Barkley because we knew he was a) a clown and b) he was coming because he had been beaten. It was funny because he was doing the "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" thing. With Karl, I don't think it would ever feel that way. It's funny because the poll here is running as you predicted on the show - 90% of fans say they don't want Karl. However, this is a hard-core group of fans. I think if you ask a spectrum of fans the percentage would be lower (and also if you clarified that this is the Karl of a few years ago). Anyway, congrats again on your radio appearance.
I've never felt that Barkley respected Hakeem, and that was one of my problems when he joined the team. And you could tell he didn't respect him because he wanted his spot on the court, which was a problem on that team. Both players operated out of the spot, and they had to take turns and neither was happy with that, and Barkley clearly should have been the one to defer to Hakeem. I always thought, the only way that situation could have worked was if Barkley took more of a Rodman role, and just concentrated on rebounding and he clearly wasn't interested in doing that, and that team didn't have the chemistry to win a championship.
Maybe if he never, ever, ever played for one of or most hated rivals. Ahh, who the hell am I kidding.....words cannot express the deep, agonizing disdain that I feel for Karla Malone. If Karl Malone ever wore a Rockets uniform, I just might have to burn anything Rockets related. Scottie Pippen was enough torture for a Rockets lifetime. If he wins a ring, I literally think I am going to puke.
You are kidding, right? Comparing Malone to Hitler is even more ridiculous than comparing Francis to Hakeem. Many here have mentioned that loyalty should be to the team and not a player (which I agree) and that winning should come first. This is often used when someone bring up the topic of loyalty to certain player(s). If this is the case, shouldn't winning for the team be more important than the hatred of a player? If Malone can bring us the muscle and mid-range jumper that can help us go further in the playoffs, shouldn't we open up our arms to him? After all, the loyalty should be to the team, right? Remember, the goal of the team is to win. It's a business after all, isn't it?
Lighten up. This is the GARM, not the D&D. Just admit that you don't hate Malone as much as some of us. No need to give reasons.
