This is a really good debate... Getting Bosh will make the Rockets a title contender right away IF they develop a good chemistry. But IF the Rockets gets the same production from LS next year, the Rockets will be a title contender also at least IMO for a lot cheaper price. Money wise, it is good for the Rockets to just keep Scola as much as I like CB. On the other hand, Bosh is a proven player and a consistent 20-10 guy. BUT with Yao, AB, Martin, and even Ariza demanding the ball, his production might not be the same plus he most likely be getting max contract. For sure DM knows, what he is doing. Whatever decision he makes, I am all for it. As long as the Rockets are winning, that is all I care.
for sure Scola is a good player Bosh is a much better player he is a better scorer and a good defender love Luis but if we get Bosh...wow
I love Luis, the only guy that I like more than him is Yao. Bosh isn't the hardest worker in the world, but I would give Luis up for him. A tough minded backup center along with Bosh will do us better than retaining Scola.
with yao coming back i dont see how bosh and yao could co-exist because bosh needs his touches and that would also mean less shots for brooks and martin. this could cause tension so the best bet would be sign scola and sign someone decent with mid level at the 5 spot. i think we got all our positions covered, we just need health and we should be good to go.
I find it funny you say bosh is a defender  Has Toronto ever been a good Defensive team?Players come and go coaches come and go but Toronto is always soft. Why?Could it be that maybe there best player is soft?
uhm no. this team with Yao and Scola is a title contender. with Yao and Bosh it is as well (depending on who else you have to give up to get Bosh). with Scola and Bosh, but no Yao? that is not a championship team.
Bosh's numbers would drop significantly playing big minutes with Yao, Martin and Brooks. Not sure how much but his scoring would go down. DD
Damn, I wish the Martin-Landry-T-Mac trade happened before the start of the season! Imagine how many numbers Scola woulda put up if Landry was not here the whole season?! Probably would average 21 and 10 and be in the All-Star game! Although I love Bosh, we really don't need him if Scola can put these kind of numbers on a consistant basis. What we need to do in the offseason is pick up a good back up C for Yao. Maybe Camby, since he did say he was interested in playing in his hometown, and a play making wing, such as Ginobili or Gay,
Bimathug outlined how Scola is considered for base year compensation, meaning only HALF of his salary can get counted in any outgoing trade http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=5184046&postcount=13 So the Rockets would have to add in MORE players to make up for the DIFFERENCE in allowable salary when trading away Scola, I think. But I think the FULL amount of Scola's salary would count against the OTHER TEAM'S cap?
Man I love our team now. Seeing anyone go hurts but the trade with landry seemed to work out pretty well...
Yeah, I'm kind of on the fence with this one. I like Scola and the way he is playing as of late cannot go unnoticed. But, when Yao returns next year, will Scola be this effective? Another thing to account for is that Bosh is 4 years younger and probably has more upside. Will Scola get even better, or has he peaked? That's why D.M. gets paid the big bucks.
Wow. That has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Yes trade the proven winner, best center in the league, for a guy who has great stats yet accomplished nothing. Wow. Just wow.
Lol. Yes, Yao might be injury prone, but I would take 50 games from Yao over 82 games from Bosh any season, any day. Bosh is overrated and puts up empty stats. If you watch Raptor games you'll know opposing teams rarely double team Bosh. If he was so good the Raps would be in the playoffs more often. You put Yao on that Raptors team and there's no question they're a playoff team. You replace Yao with Bosh on the Houston Rockets in their first round playoff series against Portland? Portland in 6 or 7, since Bosh wouldn't have given Brooks or Scola as many open looks as Yao did, and he has no post defense or shot altering ability. Games vs. Toronto are often a layup drill (as they are this year against Houston due to the absence of Yao).
Yao has proven to be the better team player, however he can hardly be relied upon even after reconstructive surgery. What is needed first is a good, athletic backup 5. Adding Bosh could then make sense even with his weaknesses. It's unlikely to happen, because Toronto wouldn't want to give up Bosh for Yao.
