yoou can't compare cause dragic and lowry has the ball in their hands a lot more than lin, and their offensive system is better.
<br> lol um... Toronto and Phoenix have better offensive systems than (arguably) the league's best offense? Right...
If Morey turned lin and Asik into Gasol and Conley Les would build a statue for him right next to Olajuwons.Gasol is a multi-faceted monster who is good at almost every facet of the game.
What a load of crap. Te Raptors are a terrible offensive team. They isolate Rudy gay or Derozan the majority of the time. The talented Lithanian guy they have is being wasted because of their wing heavy game style. The PG's have no say. The Suns game plan is run but the small forwards and the PF's have a lot of freedom and that's the Markieff of Morris twins is balling. Bledsoe is now their primary guy as well.
I can. Dragic is a considerably better player than Lin. I've always thought so, even though I like Lin & think he is talented. All you have to do is watch him play. Dragic can do a ton of things on the court that Lin can't. He just had 31 points + 10 assists vs. Portland. I was hoping the Rockets could reacquire Dragic, but now I don't think that Asik would be enough to get him in a 3-team trade. Plus, I don't think the Suns will want to trade him anymore since it looks like maybe they will be a borderline playoff team. I'm wondering if anybody still thinks letting Dragic go was a good basketball decision. If Dragic keeps this up, his talent level is $12 million minimum.
Lol dragic chose to leave and everyone's still jerkin it to him, he's dead to me he no longer plays for the rockets
They offered Dragic a contract, Morey didnt want to sacrifice flexibility with the fourth year player option, if they're performing below value, they'll opt in, if they aren't they opt out and get a bigger K, Morey wasn't willing to do that. This was at least 2 or 3 weeks before they offered anything to Lin. Nekminit Lowry is pouting, and Morey being Morey nets us a pick, plays a big part in getting Harden. So they Rockets at the point of offering Lin the contract were not choosing between Lowry, Dragic, Lin. They were bidding in a dried up PG market, and the contract they offered Lin aligns with the concerns Morey had over the player option that Dragic wanted. It was between Lin, Courtney Fortson, and whatever other dregs were left for the picking. So no, they gave Dragic an offer, and he refused, and went back to the team that gave up on him to the tune of a crippled Aaron Brooks AND a first round draft pick. So while I'll still hold good memories of Dragic when he played for us, that catastrophic collapse that saw us finish 9th again and all the talk of houston being 'home', left a sour taste in my mouth, cause apparently home is the place that gives up on you and then splashes more $$$ at you. Its like that ex-girlfriend that comes crawling back after you've made it big. I don't blame Dragic for taking the money, hell, anyone would take it. But he chose to leave, he no longer plays for the rockets, and no longer is relevant to us winning a championship. So good riddance /rant
@Panda23 Yes, because the Rockets don't give fourth-year player options to anybody.............. Except the one they gave the next summer to Dwight Howard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What I am saying is the Rockets made up their minds to try to sign Lin (as PLAN A) way before the beginning of free agency.
You're comparing Dwight Howard to Goran Dragic. Arguably the most dominant center in the game to an above average point guard. Really. And to your point about the insulting offer, Dragic was reportedly in search of 10m a season. He ended up getting 7.5m. So its obvious the sticking point was simply the player option. If we're purely talking money per year, then the Sun's in fact offered him just as/almost as insulting offer as the Rockets. Lin didn't get a player option. He got a 3 year contract. If you actually try to be objective about the facts of the matter, you'll realise the Rockets chasing Lin was not purely to do with marketing purposes. Morey, being Morey did not want to sacrifice long-term flexibility on a player of Dragic's calibre, or lack thereof. At the time of the offer, Lin was playing at a high level before his injury, and the argument could easily be made it was a lateral move, or bit below at worst, while retaining flexibility, putting asses on seats and letting Lin run the show, and keeping the Rockets relevant.
No they didn't. They decided they were going to spend X amount of dollars on a point guard for X amount of years because they wanted their books clear for the summer of Love. They offered it to Dragic first, but he declined for more years. Lin was their second choice.
Well you're just speculating. I don't understand whats the basis for your argument, and to be frank, if the crux of it is, 'We offered Dwight Howard a player option, why didn't we offer Dragic one' then thats a pretty weak argument.
I haven't seen Dwight Howard dominate anything or anybody all year, except Samuel Dalembert, who was playing with bruised ribs that game.
Either way the Rockets got Lin (I still think what I said is how it happened) they will look bad for letting a great player go to another team. Just like when the Mavericks let Steve Nash go to Phoenix as a free agent & he won 2 MVPs.
