I don't know how you judge cars, but those 3 models are probably the most reliable of any car in their tier.
Just like Kevin Martin as efficient as he was is not a top tier guard. The most efficient guy is not always the best guy ... but the best guy sure is efficient
Dragic scored 15 points in the 4th Q! I loved Dragic and Lowry. I was okay with letting go of Dragic because his contract is longer than Lin's. Trading Lowry helped us get Harden. Hopefully Lin can grow within the next two seasons.
There are two main factors for this result. One is play time. Normally, the longer the play time, the less effective the player becomes. Obviously, tired. Lin's PT per game is 33 minutes this season, while Lowry is only 28 minutes. PER is on per minute basis. Another factor is the fact that PER is adjusted against team pace. The Rockets has a much faster pace than the Raptors this season. Therefore the team pace adjustment will raise Lowry's PER and decrease Lin's PER even if they have identical stats line.
People should just stop comparing these three PGs. Lin definitly has more upside than the other two for sure based on how many minutes they have played in NBA. If you say otherwise, you have no clue. On the other hand, Les signed him not only for his skill sets, also for his business consideration. Lin is a cash cow, not Lowry, not Dragic. How much more money can Lin bring to Houson compared to Lowry and Dragic? We probably dont know, but Les happily caculates his revenu and think what a steal it is.
Lowry was better at same age...Lin has better upside because he has such good penetration skills, but he isn't good enough penetrating to break a defense focussed on stopping it. He needs a counter....the three point shot.
I'm mainly just talking appearance, performance, features, interior quality though outside of Honda they really aren't reliable at all. Toyota is in a bit of a bind right now actually because of it.
Neither are Dragic, Lin, and Lowry Continuing with this: James Harden - Audi R8 - not as well known as other sports cars, but can compete with the best of them. Omer Asik - Ford Ranger - good value - although not top of the line, it gets the job done. Chandler Parsons - Mini Cooper - chicks dig it, for god knows why, and it's sorta gay.
If you really wanted to be cool you could say that Harden is a TT-RS. The performance of the lesser R8 but for about half the cost. Also a much lesser known vehicle and not as flashy as the R8. If you think about the cost of the TT-RS you could sort of say that was Chandler for what we pay him...?
Lin is so smart, that he often pulls a stunner on himself. Seriously, what this team of shooters could do with Dragon makes you think.
We can add another player to the "Lin's defense wasn't good, he's just lucky they had an off night" list!!!!
What a coincidence! They all have off night when they face Lin, Lin must be one lucky charm for the Rockets.
At the peak of the Linsanity, Madison Square Garden stock value went up by hundreds of million dollars. What's that to the Knicks owners?
Some thoughts about your last statement above and the problem of evaluating players using only PER. So, as you said, both Lowry and Lin have identical stats line, and Lowry gets a much higher PER after team pace adjustments, it still doesn't prove that Lowry is a better player because it would be much more difficult to achieve the same stats line when Lin plays at the fastest pace (96.2) of the league, much faster than Lowry playing at the 6th slowest pace (90.1). Or it would be just as fair to question if Lowry can maintain his stats line at the same fastest pace as Lin.
He shot a lower percentage then Lin and was barely ahead of Lin in rebounds and assist but behind Lin in steals. That was Lowrys 5th year in the league and he had played 377 games. I was a big fan of Lowry but I think without a doubt that Lin has the greater upside and that we are far better of having him here.
