So what? Who gives a ****? I can go to a dozen establishments here and get the same treatment. Does it mean it was racism? Does it mean I deserve to sue and be awarded anything?

Now come on. Who hasn't been forgotten about at a restaurant a couple of times? These people get busy, and some of the staff are incompetent to begin with. To superimpose racism on it is just fcking stupid.

Chris Rock's mother is suing Crackle Barrel restaurants for racial discrimination.

The Associated Press is reporting that Rose Rock was seated at a table in a Crackle Barrel restaurant along the North Carolina Coast, but was forgotten about and "ignored" for a half an hour.

Rock says she called over the manager, but all he did was offer her a free meal.

"He never called over the waitresses and asked, `Why did these people sit here for an hour without service? The only thing he said was we could have a free meal and neither of us wanted to eat," she said.

Cracker Barrel representatives have said they are taking the complaint "very seriously."

"It has always been a violation of our policies and procedures and it is neither condoned nor allowed. We do not allow the type of behaviour you are describing," Julie Davis, a spokesperson for the company, said.

I would have taken the free meal and not gone there ever again.

This case wouldn't have legs at all if there weren't a pattern of behavior already established. But Cracker Barrel (or more specifically some Cracker Barrel locations) have had incidents of racist behavior in the past. Behavior patterns are one of the defendable ways of proving racism.

I don't understand. They were "forgotten" about...called the manager over and offered a FREE meal, but feel that wasn't enough? Why would the manager discipline the employee in front of a customer, that just seems embarassing and unprofessional.

Or it could be taking an incident that could be a mixup that could happen to anyone, and making a political statement with it.
Not saying one thing or another, just seems pretty weak. At least this incident.

My thoughts exactly. They weren't hungry? (Niether wanted to eat.) Or, they were hungry, just wanted to wait longer and go to another place. Why go to the place then?

Sounds like a chance to be in the spotlight to me. Use some of that hollywood relative power... call up the Rev. Al.

From the report, the manager did exactly what he should do.

If movie theaters didn't want to allow Koreans in, I'd be shocked. Of course, that isn't exactly what happened in this situation, is it? It's not like Cracker Barrel issued a statement saying that blacks would no longer be served at their restaurants. If I went to a movie theater and was denied entrance, I'd probably laugh and go do something else. I certainly wouldn't file a lawsuit about it. Maybe that's because I have a great life and am a happy, non-bitter person. Who knows?

Regarding that atrocious BS carnival of a film "Lost in Translation", I never said that she shouldn't make fun of Asians. I never said that I was going to file a lawsuit, or that I was upset about how she basically ridiculed an entire culture. I was simply pointing out the double standard which exists regarding racism in America.

If this incident did go down like she claims, she should suck it up and move on with her life: don't go back to that cracker barrel. I highly doubt that she's being honest though. And now she's going to file a lawsuit. How ridiculous.

I know someone who swears in all her hours of car-hoping at Sonic not a single black person ever tipped.

Nothing screams attention w**** more than adding the good reverend. I can't wait until Al Sharpton, courvoisier in hand, hits on Chris Rock's mother.
