Interesting topic, I also believe Elway is the best QB in history given what he had to work with and some of the miracles he pulled off, like running for 4th and forever against a pretty good Oiler defense with the game on the line. But there is something to be said for Joe Montana's effectiveness in the clutch and his ability to get the job done. He was a winner on every level, a winner with the 81 49's that didn't include Jerry Rice and other greats from the later teams and he even won with the Chiefs, maybe not a Superbowl but he certainly made them a better team. Its like the Barry vs. Emmitt argument. No one will argue that Emmitt was a better athlete, but you can't simply write off his results as simply team accomplishments. He put up numbers on average teams and is the most prolific running back in Florida High School history and the University of Florida. He just got the job done, same as Montana.
