seen 2 episodes. after all the hype...i wasn't impressed. I'll give it a few more chances though cause the people that like it are people that I usually agree with on stuff like this
can someone with searching powers bring back to life 'the best burger in texas thread'? It was inspired by a himym episode i believe.
It's good for the kind of show it is. Nothing spectacular about it. It lost a lot of the humor when Barney was actually dating Robin though. He carries the show, and in order to do that, he needs to be single.
OK off topic a bit, but going with the best hamburger in new york references... anyone eat Denton County Hamburger? It's one of the bests in Texas. I promise.
I had many friends recommend it to me over the past couple years, but I never got around to watching it until this spring. I started with season 1 and I am up to season 3 right now. It's now one of my favorite comedies.
ditto. i have the first 2 seasons on DVD and thought it was a really well-written show... had inside jokes, great plot lines, etc. Now it feels like a standard hokey sitcom but i keep watching to find out who the mother is. For the last two seasons i have let them sit on my dvr for weeks at a time and when there is absolutely nothing on TV (and i really want to veg out on the couch) i'll watch the episodes. then i just remember how downhill the show has gone. there will be a few gem episodes per season that remind of the first two seasons... but the other 20 or so episodes are pure garbage (IMO)
Completely agree. The first two season were definitely legendary. but now it feels like its not going anywhere. i like how NPH in an article said that he didnt like random guess stars in the show just to boost ratings. honestly i can track down when the series began to die....after the writers strike. it just wasnt the same
Also, I feel the show in season 3 was not as enjoyable just because the character of Ted didn't seem consistent to who he was in season 1. In season 1 he was a nervious trainwreck. In season 3, hes pretty much a playa and a boss. What the **** happened? He needs to go back to being the awkward person he was in order for the show to be really really funny again. Also, did anybody else lose their crush on Robin after Barney did her? Completelylost my apetite there
Barney and Robin dated for around six episodes or so, and only one of those episodes was poorly written. I think the show is genius because it pays close attention to detail, referencing little things from previous seasons. Like when robin's new guy opens the door naked and replies, "I read it in some guy's blog." That was genius or when ted doesn't remember a girl's name from his past its Blah Blah. Those that don't like the show have to give it a chance until you do like it.
I think it also helps immensely to start from the first episode and make your way forward. My sister had showed me a few random episodes here and there when she was trying to get me into the show, and while funny, they didn't take on the same level of genius that they did after I saw them in chronological order.
so, i know i'm a few years late, but this show is really funny. i like it a lot more than i thought i would. i'm in the middle of season 4...barney's fake family, LOL...he is easily one of the best character on TV. ted is annoying as hell, but everyone else is awesome.
he is quoting barney from the show. i like it my girlfriend and i are just starting season 3. good stuff
