The only link referable to Varoufakis is the one about the incident at Austrailia Public Radio. The same old claim that being against Israel as a Zionist state is the same as anti-semitism.

As people become more inure to the anti-semitism smear used against folks critical of Israel's policies such as the recent slaughter in Gaza I would doubt that these tactics would work again with Austrailian public radio.

Varoufakis on the issue from his blog about 5 years ago.
    **********
The specific charge against me was (a) a claim that Israel used the blockade of Gaza as part of “a strategy for retaining a large part of the West Bank” and (b) my reference to the ‘security barrier’ as a “concrete monster”. The fact that my comments were supported by reports in the Israeli newspaper Ha’aretz was not deemed a sufficient defence against the charge of antisemitism. Once the decision to terminate my weekly radio broadcast, after sixteen years of broadcasting, was reached, this is how the station’s representative explained it in a letter to the plaintiff: “The particular anti-Israeli line of his commentary could be reasonably held to have assisted in the promotion of negative stereotypes about Jews, and more particularly, Israeli Jews

Maybe the Greeks can get some good gas deals if they relate in a friendly way to Russia. It could help their economy.

No need to follow the path of austerity or needless cold war. which they don't even have an arms industry to profit off of.

Much of Europe doesn't seem that interested in a new cold war and the US is having to exert pressure for them to join in.

The guy that writes that "View from the wing" blog. He was a very active member on Flyertalk and is one of co-founders of Milepoint. Very smart guy. I think he makes quite some money with that blog.

If you have any interest in upgrades, saving some money, etc. and if you have a frequent flyer or hotel loyalty scheme account, yeah, he usually has some helpful tips.

I'd usually check Flyertalk. It takes a bit more searching, but is a lot more detailed. Is it a general question or do you have questions about specific airlines?

If you want to know about specific seats, I am sure you are aware of seatguru.

If you mean Gary's blog: Beware. I think he works for some conservative think tank in Washington ;).

Stiglitz has an interesting interview on CNBC. Surprisingly one of the hosts seems to agree with his analysis of German gains from the southern countries.
    ***********
If Greece leaves, I think Greece will actually do better. ... There will be a period of adjustment. But Greece will start to grow," he said. "If that happens, you going to see Spain and Portugal, they've been giving us this toxic medicine and there's an alternative course."

Insisting that it's best for Europe and the world to keep the euro intact, he argued that keeping the single currency together requires more integration. "There's a whole set of an unfinished economic agenda which most economists agree on, except Germany doesn't."

He said the real problem is Germany, which has benefited greatly under the euro. "Most economists are saying the best solution for Europe, if it's going to break up, is for Germany to leave. The mark would raise, the German economy would be dampened."

Stiglitz completely dodged the question at the 1:10 minute mark: "If you are living in Germany and working your tail off and seeing your money go to Greece, what are you supposed to think?" He just responded by waffling something about world war II and the Marshall plan.

I thought the hosts asked pretty good questions.

Maybe that explains why he was probably a bit hysterical about Greek travel. Hey if Greece needs to promote a different type of travel in which the country gets more taxes or income, they might have to do that. That might have been just another form of what all agree was some corruption. The devil is in the details of course
