Attempting to alter cabinet members salary to $1 doesn’t count for anything?

What does this accomplish besides making sure only wealthy people with wealth and capital should be politicians?

People who advocate for salary limits on politicians don't have a single clue what corruption looks like in American politics.

This is what 2 decades of reality TV and insta-click outrage videos has done to us.

We expect our politicians to be be a bunch of catty b****es like The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and would be disappointed without a nonstop poop-train of manufactured outrage and drama. MTG is literally a "star" for acting like a spoiled racist brat filming an episode of The Jersey Shore, and she's about as accomplished in her time in Congress as Snooki and friends were. The "famous" bottom feeders in Congress who are all about making headlines are literally reality TV stars, and judge success and are judged by their voters by the same metrics.

If they started acting with the veneer of decorum and solemnity that they used to have, and sat down and did actual work, people would vote them out for not being interesting enough. This is what the people want, not actually getting things done. Acting like a bombastic fool is what people think working hard looks like these days, apparently.

And all the same people liking and subscribing to MTG videos will be the same people who b**** and moan that congress is useless because they never do anything.

I officially vow to never speak of MTG again until she actually crafts and sponsors important legislation that passes. This is my vow to America. She is irrelevant, except as a distracting noise.

I was told the Biden administration is going awesome. More pending government shut downs than Trump impeaches.

Thankfully, despite the efforts of the Republican party, we've yet to have one while Biden's been President.

If only we could've said the same during Trump's tenure.

Wow, I can't believe you actually thought that was an effective criticism of the Biden admin in a thread about the republican congress.

I very much agree with this. This is where our culture has led us to pricing personalities and attitude over things like capability. Trolling is mistaken as policy and the what seems
To matter more is how much a politician can “own” their ideological opponents than whether they can actually govern.

The sad part about that is that those folks cheer on those Congressmen for voting down any policies that are proposed by Democrats which would help them with everything from price gouging, living wages, cheaper meds, affordable healthcare, safer workplaces, fair taxes, labor laws and working hours, discrimination, school funding, gun safety, mental healthcare, drug addiction and support, voting, and cleaner air and water. It's like, we need help, but not if those Dems want to help us. Meanwhile the congressmen do nothing but tweet away blaming the Dems.

Excellent post, I would add one more thing I find prevalent these days, when someone is busted for doing something they NEVER own up to it, it's ALWAYS a witch-hunt, it's always someone else's fault, no one will take responsibility no matter how obvious it is to the rest of the world......even when it's so apparent, I`m looking at you George Santos and all the folks just like you

When you've got Chip freaking Roy on the floor of the House asking his GOP colleagues to give him 1, just 1, achievement of theirs he can go campaign on...you have pretty much failed at governance.

Why doesn't Conservative congress raise taxes or cut spending in the major areas such as medicare, ssn, and the military?

Well conservatives only plan is to sabotage and offer no serious solutions....

It's what your people have been doing for decades.... intentionally make government less effective so you can say "see". It was your whole plan with ACA.... intentionally not expand Medicaid and intentionally not fund the high risk pools that increased costs more than the needed to be all so you can say "see".

We are all well aware of the Republicans short fallings. However I do not agree a bad plan is always better than no plan at all.

It's "sabotage" not short fallings.... They didn't threaten to shutdown the government when Trump was spending like Obama....

They aren't putting forth any good faith legislation to a Democratically controlled Senate to actually address any of the major spending issues, just putting on a show for their base. They certainly aren't touching anything that would affect the conservative base like rural subsidies and ethanol.
