You could argue Kobe hasn't won one either without Shaq. If he doesn't have Shaq he doesn't go anywhere with Horry and the nine has beens on the Lakers squad and almost any other center in the league. Look at the Rockets last year and the Rockets this year with Ming.

What's all this crap about Kobe can't win by himself, but McGrady can.
What has McGrady won? And if he's by himself, who's guarding the other four guys on the other team?
Granted, McGrady has no one like Shaq, but who does besides Kobe?
I think it's a credit to Bryant that he placed winning above personal glory by sacrificing stats, awards, etc. to stay with O'neal, while McBaby threw a fit about playing Scottie to Vince's Jordan and left to have his own team.
If McGrady had stayed, Toronto would be unstoppable, and this debate could be played out every year in the Finals. Instead, he's stuck in eternal 1st-round purgatory in the pathetic East.
Shaq excluded, how could anyone do anything with the team surrounding Kobe?
    Garrity, Kemp, Burke>Walker, Medvedenko, Horry
    Hill, Miller>Fox, George
    Armstrong, Vaughn>Fisher, Shaw
Give Kobe the rest of the Magic minus McGrady in the East, I guarantee he can at least match McGrady's success, and no one will be whispering about his desire/intensity/heart either.
