... from being the potential First Pick to the 7-8 range was Eddie Griffin.

I am befuddled why we paid SO MUCH for Battier but he will be a valuable Rocket (defense, shooting, and lockerroom).

Why do you all think that the other teams passed on Gay?

Hate to say it, but I sort of agree. My thought was that you can't pass on a stud like Roy or Gay if available, but if there are enough concerns about their games or attitudes or competitiveness, you have to wonder if there is vailidy to them.

I agree this trade is flat bad if it remains as publicized, but I also think there is more to it than meets the eye. More should come out over the next few weeks.

i think we had only 1 plan to get Roy and once that failed we just panicked and took whatever we could get instead of taking the best player and continueing to develop talent.

the only thing that is gonna be different is the extra salary filler or cash considerations that memphis sends us, but it seems the parameters are set.

There must be more than that to it.

    Future 1st round pick? - I wish

Alexander Johnson? - The rockets were reportedly high on him

    Mike Miller? - I wish

Brian Cardinal? - Range shooting 4

I keep thinking there must be more to it.

Kyle Lowry and Alexander Johnson would fill needs. The Rockets brought in AJ twice.

    We shall see.

Anyway, I think Battier will be more of a 15 pt guy on our team.

I know there are a ton of threads about this and hope springs eternally, but...

DaDakota seems to have put it all to rest: the July 12 delay is solely relatled to the expiration of Battier's contract status which then, apparently, makes way for the deal to be approved without further involvement of other pieces.

The Rockets want Battier just as badly as Memphis wants Gay. I doubt if there will be any changes to the deal.

I hope we get Alexander Johnson or something, a pick would be nice.
But we still have our giant void of a SG spot.
