Whether or not the tank is being planned for, it is undoubtedly on the way!

Nash was 39 years old and completely broken down. Dwight was a shell of his former self coming off back surgery. The team did start to play better ball in February and March, but Kobe blew out his Achilles and that was basically it for his career. Making matters worse, the team's depth and future prospects/picks were severely compromised due to the deals for Nash and Dwight.

D'Antoni wouldn't be my choice, either, but I wouldn't use the failure of the 2012-14 Lakers as proof of anything regarding his coaching. LA's decline was far bigger than him.

LA was a crappy situation. And so was NY in many ways. But he is the wrong coach for this team. Bottom line, he will not get us to contender status. He just doesn't have the ability to manage egos.

He struggled with Kobe and Dwight. I mean with BOTH.

Dwight was recovering from an injured back, Nash hardly played(also with back issues), and Gasol was out half the year. Outside of those guys, it was a garbage team - over the hill Artest & Antawn Jamison, Steve Blake, Chris Duhon, etc....

So you gotta go all the way back to the mid-2000s for his accomplishments/when he was last good.

Lakers & Knicks were "bad, toxic" situations, so somehow he's excused for it. And Houston is...? He's not stepping into the Warriors.

The Knicks have been a mess since JVG left. D'Antoni can't be blamed for that. The Lakers aren't looking too good lately either. That Kobe extension was stupid and had nothing to do with D'Antoni.

My issue with the guy has more to do with his time in Phoenix. He got great regular season results with that team but never emphasized defense which is why they couldn't get past the Spurs in the playoffs. Plus we aren't gonna have anything close to the personnel the Suns did during the Nash era, so he'll never get a chance to implement his offensive system here.

It wouldn't surprise me if we do wind up a cellar dweller once D'Antoni is done here. And again, not necessarily because of him, but rather because we have very little talent outside of Harden who will likely want out of here by next summer.

we may be a cellar dweller at that point, but it will be because Harden will have taken his talents back to L.A., which I suspect will happen D'Antoni or no D'Antoni. :(

If Nash didn't get rocked by Horry in 2007 D'Antoni could very well have a ring.

    Think about that.

We don't have Steve Nash, just like his team post incident.

Those are the results we can expect, not the with-Nash ones:mad:

    1. So, as we are hearing, if he does get hired we will bring in a top assistant to help get the defense in order. That would be a change from his phoenix days. Im sure that will be discussed before he is hired for the job so that when it happens there are no issues between the coaches.
    2. We don't know what talent we will eventually have on the team. Free agency has not started yet. If/when Howard opts out, we will have money to spend on new talent to fit the system he wants to run.
