What I keep asking myself is how Les didn't see that. We, as fans, have limited access to the team and how the coach and players interact with each other. Les Alexander doesn't have that excuse. Did Les not see all of the psychological work JVG had to do to keep this team sharp? Did he not realize when he interviewed Adelman that he was not prepared to coach that way? I really think the ousting of JVG was more personal than business and it looks like a disaster on all fronts. I hate to keep rehashing it but it was a huge mistake and the players still don't seem comfortable with Adelman.
Accepted. Actually, I think you are somewhat misunderstanding me. I think our ideas are not that far apart. I am talking about basic temperaments. To be in the NBA you have to be skilled and compete at a high level. However, some players are naturally aggressive, intense, and competitive. Some have to work hard at it, because that is not their natural bent. When they are tired, pressured, and stressed, they tend to revert to their basic instincts. Bonzi is basically "hung over" during some games. He is capable of more than he is giving.
The way I am defining "laid back," I believe they are. Easy going, nice, friendly, measured in their responses, not intense, super aggressive, or edgy. Sura was the opposite of "laid back." Yao is no Sura, neither is Battier.
Tim Duncan and David Robinson are "laid back" according to this. Kareem is laid back. Heck, you can even say Magic Johnson is laid back.
