The NFL is all about parity so I am not concerned with 2 weeks or 6 weeks down the road, all I care about now is the Chiefs. They played some good D this week vs the Colts but their offense is crap. The Texans NEED to win and get to 4-2 before the bye and get back to full strength before their MNF showdown with the Colts. I am pro-Kubiak but these ass kickings are becoming more and more common and I am starring to bypass the whole "all teams have these type of days". Saying that, we have won 7 of 9 games and still in 1st in the South. Kubiak needs to make something happen NOW, light a fire or another motivational speech. I am starting to get the feeling Kubes is a dam good offense mind but no so much Head Ball Coach.
I feel the same way as you. I am pro-Kubiak but these 3 or 4 annual stinkers have to go if the Texans want to get to that next level. I don't believe in must wins in Week 6. All I know is if the Texans don't have at least 9-7 record this year, I would change my mind on Kubiak and want him gone. I don't care how young the defensive backs are. This is the decision Smith and Kubiak made and they have to produce. One thing I don’t like about Kubiak is that he just hands his 1st round picks starting jobs. I understand you want to get them the most reps in the offseason but I like competition. He is also loyal to a fault. Guys like Shaun Cody and Amobi Okoye should be on the bench. I don’t understand what they bring to the table. Neither creates pass rush and I never see either of them making a impact on the running game. Earl Mitchell is active and I like what he brings. I also wouldn’t mind seeing more Antonio Smith at defensive tackle. He plays there on 3rd down but this pass rush is TERRIBLE and you have to change things up.
thier offense is not crap. they can run the ball well. Cassel sucks, but I really wouldnt be surprised if he torches the Texans too.
Kubiak need to run Arian Early and Often. Texans are no longer a Pass to setup the Run team. . . or don't seem like it. More Bootlegs maybe. Rocket River
They scored 9 points against a BANGED up Colt secondary, 17 against a so/so Charger defense (They're so-so even if the stats say otherwise) and BARELY beat a sucky Brown team. They do have a running game but without a true passing game, I see this a lot like the Raiders game. I am actually very impressed with their defense, especially today, and special teams.
Am I seriously disappointed? Yes. Am I going to jump off the Texans train after the Giants game? No. Could the coaching have been better? Without a doubt. So here's where things get interesting. Will this team bounce back and show some heart? Hopefully. No excuses anymore. I'm not gonna call for Kubiaks head this early. I want to see everyone on this team be accountable, step up, make plays and win. Until the Texans show me they can't do this, this season, I'm not gonna completely kill the coaching. You can't get rid of Kubiak in the middle of the season and expect big things from a totally new system.
oh, horse crap. forgive me if I don't let my blood pressure rise over a freaking game. if you seriously believe someone blowing smoke on an internet bulletin board makes a lick of difference you need a reality check. the fans are not the problem. if the team does not make the playoffs, with the level of talent they have, then the team should probably move in a different direction with coaching and offensive/defensive philosophy. we *all* get that. but we don't have to "get upset and hold people accountable" (McNair keeps cancelling our weekly meetings; I'm going to have to up the consequences of this behavior) to have a reality-based view (even if it's a viewpoint you don't agree with). and who's "sweeping everything under the rug with double-blinded love?" they played like crap today. waa.
i had no idea the loss of Duane Brown would impact the running game the way appears to have. or am I not seeing something right? they look night-and-day worse than the first two weeks. they look like 2007. blyech.
Yep, pretty much everything here. We are all pretty pissed but life goes on and nothing we can do except hope the staff gets their act together quickly. When the team wins it's like a party in here but when the lose... therapy. lol
lol. Texans fans are bi-polar as hell. One week we are on the way to the Super Bowl, next week...fire the coach. The entie leauge is off this year, and the Texans are still in first place and one win away from the best record in the leauge despite injuries and suspensions. If anybody on this staff needs to go it's Frank Bush.
It's ridiculous. You are off to the best start in franchise history, you have the South division in the palm of your hands. Getting national recognition, talks of championship contending. And then this... If we can't take advantage of our opportunities then we will never win a championship.
I'm not sure that's the issue - the running game was pretty damn good last week. Not just Foster, but Ward and Slaton ran really well too. Foster ran really well against Dallas as well. Both games were 6+ yards per carry.
Nobody has a division in the palm of their hands after 3 weeks. And national recognition is sort of irrelevant to how good the team is.
fans want so badly for texans to be an elite team. we are far, far from it. the franchise has established a precedent of too much faith and patience. the carr era to the kubiak = fail. we are not reactionary enough as a team. get the job done or GTFO.
We have the hardest schedule out of any team this year. We aren't going to win every game. Let's face it, the Giants are a good team, they just had a slow start. Colts are a great team (we beat them). The fact is, our offense is not the problem. Kubiak does well with the offense. It's the defense and Frank Bush that needs to be held accountable. Our offense has made tremendous strides with the run game this year... We still have 11 games left in the season. We are not that bad of a team to go anything less than 6-5 even with the tough schedule. I think we can go 7-4 the rest of the way and when we do, you will all be raving about how resilient this team and the coach is.
