If there is one guy that McNair would possibly cut-ties with Kubes for... it's Dungy. Cowher isn't coming here, Gruden is a possibility, but I don't think McNair wants him enough to jettison Kubes.
I would take Dungy over anyone else who would be available. He built TWO franchises into Super Bowl contenders.
I'll say it again. same people, same mistakes. reminds me of my favorite Chicago song, hard habit to break.
I'd be ecstatic with Dungy or Gruden. Don't think Cowher is happening. Gruden took over the 4 win Raiders, and after two 8-8 seasons had two double-digit win seasons and arguably should have had a shot at the super bowl and didn't because of the tuck rule. More relevantly, he took that solid Bucs team and made them great (granted it was Dungy's defense), which I think he could do with us.
I do not know about Gruden. I have a hard time matching the commentary he gives as football "analysis" with his head coaching record.
Press Conference is set for 4PM. Jason Garrett is the interim HC with maybe Dave Campo taking over as defensive coordinator. This was decided last night on JJ's private jet flight from Wisconsin.
Apples to oranges, though – since the 6-0 start, the Broncos are 4-14, I believe. That start was an undeniable fluke. But with the Texans, you’re extrapolating 4 games from the middle of a season where the Texans were otherwise 9-3 and going, “See? SEE!” You could very easily argue the 4-game streak was the anomaly. Let’s not forget, after the 0-4 start in 2008 through the 3-1 start this year, the Texans were actually 20-12 over that 32-game stretch (the equivalent of 2 full seasons) – and you’re pulling out a 4-game losing streak as the defining collection of games? A little unfair, don’t you think? I’m not arguing FOR Kubiak – I’m just arguing against the idea that last year was somehow a failure because you’ve arbitrarily decided when the season is and is not important. You’re certainly free to have that opinion, of course – I just disagree with it. Honest question: Which NFL coach gives answers you consider wholly satisfying and not cliché-riddled empty statements? They ALL do that; we just don’t have to hear the other 31 do it every Sunday night. Unless, apparently, we’re inside the opponent’s 10-yard line or need to convert a short 4th down. Fans – especially irate fans – hate to bring this up because it sounds like excuse-making – but… look who the Chiefs have beaten: SD, CLE, SF, JAX, BUF – they have a combined record of 13-28. The Texans have played five games against teams with a current winning record (26-15 overall). And, FYI: They’re 3-2. You’ll get no argument from me; only that I would pin it more on Kubiak, the GM, as opposed to Kubiak, the head coach.
Good point. I would definitely give them gold stars on Schaub and Daniels; I might be tempted to give a bronze star to Walter. But Anderson is a total non-factor, Jacoby is too inconsistent (and can't beat out Walter, who's gone AWOL) and, until yesterday, Casey hadn't done a thing. But, it brings up another point: Why are we so slow to recognize our own talent? Walter wasted away on the bench his first year; Foster sat on the practice squad for 14 games last year while the running game cost us wins and Casey has been AWOL for nearly a year despite Daniels' injury. But he looked pretty doggone good yesterday.
Didnt foster have a knee injury the first part of the year? Casey has also had a hard time keeping healthy but they have been easing him in there...but i think his blocking has kept him from being out there more.
Dennis Green? Jim Mora? But seriously, I don't know. It's just frustrating hearing the same press conference template after every loss. "Well, we didn't come out focused and that's my fault. I've got to do a better job preparing the team. We've just got to continue to get better, Bob." Maybe I should stop watching Channel 13's wrap-up show every Sunday. And I hate to keep harping on this, but the not watching the FG's just bugs me to no end. Something is amiss with this coaching staff. There were hints of it a few games ago when Amobe sort of called out Kubiak with his comments about some players needing extra motivation. And with Mario yelling at the D-line coach on the sideline last week. And with Kubiak refusing to give Foster 30 carries a game. Honestly, I'm not one of those "FIRE KUBIAK!!!!!!111" screamers after every loss. I've been defending him until this year. Maybe it's my fault for expecting this year to be different. Not 12-4 different, just different. Something besides 8-8, which we seemed destined for AGAIN this year. If we're lucky, that is... Well, we just LOST to SD, CLE is starting too look pretty damn good, and I doubt we sweep JAX this year. I'll certainly grant you SF and BUF. I'm not saying the Chiefs are a finished product. Just that they SEEM to be improving a lot faster after their 2-14 season than us. I know the season is only halfway done, but they were a laughingstock just 2 short years ago under Herm Edwards. The 2-3 record at home is just inexcusable. That, to me, is a problem with motivation. How can you not be ready to play at home? I know the Giants are tough, but that game was over by the end of the 1st quarter. And the loss to the hapless cowboys...it wasn't even as close as the final score. Yep. Agree with you saying we tend to over-rate the job the front office has done since Casserly left. I say "we" because I do it too.
Adam Wexler really going after Kubiak for sticking with Kareem, right on cue John McClain comes in to save the day for his buddy.
Houston media minus Adam Wexler, Lance Z and certain others are just horrible. What horrible questions to ask a coach that has screwed up two games in a row.
That blunder trumps the Brown HB pass from last year IMO. In such an important play with likely your season (possibly your job) on the line, how do you not know its more than half a yard? You had 3 TOs, why not use it there? Its mind boggling how bad his game management is.
Um....what are you talking about? John McClain has a Hall of Fame vote. A Hall of Fame vote! He has also been in several movies. Did I mention that he has a Hall of Fame vote? For the Hall of Fame? Are you familiar with the HALL OF FAME? Well, he has a vote.
If he would have said, "we had dominated their D Line all game long and I thought our O line could get the push we needed" then, while still not the smartest move, at least its a legit reason.
