WE GOT MARTIN FOR LANDRY. What part of that don't you understand? Air Langhi just clarified that for you a couple of posts back.

So even if we don't swap picks, we managed to get rid of a whiny old loser who will never play on a winning team again

AND STILL managed to get paid to do so?

You might not think Jordan Hill is much 'payment' - but hey, it's well better than nothing. He's in his second season as a 6'11 PF with long arms and a jumpshot. If he turns out to be a decent backup at NBA level, then we win on the trade.

Oh wait - then we also got Kevin Martin in the deal. So clearly we win on the trade - who cares if we get the pick or not?

Sucks that the Knicks are winning - but basically they sold the farm on this trade; if they did NOT win this season and gave us their pick it would be even worse...

Yeah right - 3 team trade buddy.

We couldn't trade Landry straight up for Martin, needed to make salaries match - so it's part of the McGrady trade (as inconvenient for you as that is).

And Air Langhi is wrong. We did not get him for Landry. Salaries don't even match and the Kings wouldn't give us Martin just for Landry. It was a 3 team trade that we actually completed (T-Mac to the Kings) before getting the extra stuff from NY.

I like Landry, but Martin for Landry+Dorsey was a good swap for the Rockets.

Houston owns NY's 2012 1st rounder, but it was top five protected. Assuming NY finishes NOT in the top five picks next year, Houston gets the 2012 1st rounder and Denver gets NY's 2014 first rounder.

If New York implodes and gets a top five pick next year, Houston now gets NY's 2013 1st rounder with the same protection (top five) and the earliest Denver could get is NY's 2015 1st rounder. Hope that helps.

Oh yeah. Teams are not allowed to trade draft picks in consecutive years. That's why there is a 1-year gap between the Knicks sending the picks to Houston and then to Denver. Blame some guy named Ted for that rule.

The clock is ticking on Amare's microfractured knees. Melo and NY's crew of flunkies could net us a very nice pick in the 2012 draft if a few things fall into place. Yet to hear the chubby girl scream.

He also pwned himself. Had he not been too big of a puss to trade for Amare, NY would have been much worse this year and the picks would have been much more valuable. Melo also wouldn't have wanted to go to NY and play with their scrubs, giving us a better chance to trade for him with the now higher valued picks.

Morey's whole strategy was to bet hard against Walsh, but he stupidly gave up opportunities to screw the Knicks. If you think about it, Morey basically turned potentially Melo and Amare into Battier and Scola.

I'll be in the minority on this but I think NY may miss the playoffs. They stripped their entire roster for Melo and now basically have to start over with only 7 weeks to go. I think they will struggle, in fact I think the pick swap will still be in play come draft time. It took Voltron 6 weeks just to get their act together and that was with an entire offseason and preseason to prepare.

Now, depending on the new CBA, NY will have some sort of MLE and could improve quickly this offseason. Next season will be a good year for NY, Morey should get rid of that pick asap.

Considering Morey was yapping about how valuable the Knicks picks are going to be, how we totally fleeced the Knicks into taking McGrady and how awesome it would be to use the Knicks assets to acquire Bosh in the summer, yep he got pwned.

Knicks have two superstars, Rockets have zero and the pick swap is worthless.

Morey has not really made a good move since 2008, heck he has made some bad and questionable moves such as signing Miller, believing that Yao will be healthy, thinking Brooks-Martin could coexist, etc.

I always felt like Morey is a guy who thinks way too highly of himself as a "guru" when he has yet to prove anything.

IDK maybe I am just sick and tired of his Morey propaganda and his loyal bandwagoners on here with "In Morey we trust" slogans as they have led to a disastrous season and really no hope for the future.

Amare wouldnt have stayed in Houston his only pussiness was not trading for someone who wouldn't sign here. Big deal. Nice dreaming though.

Melo Billups and Stoudamire is enough to make the playoffs in the east.

don't forget fields and turiaf, they actually have 3 players who can play defense in that lineup.

And although you are a little bit harsh the way you said it. Your basically echoing what I have said. Amare is a package deal. If we could have gotten him? People dont realize our chances increased to get Carmelo and Chris Paul too. Hopefully all is not lost though. Knicks paid a kings ransom to get Carmelo and now have no depth. We could have paid less and had a spectacular team right now. With Amare and Carmelo potentially.
