This thread is useless. The Knicks are going to make the playoffs just because they are in the East. No lottery pick here. Look away.
Value of pick plummeting. So basically we traded Tmac for hill and a low first rounder. The lakers got pau gasol for expiring contract. The mavs got the number 5 pick and we got jhill and a low first. Awesome.
With the Knicks gutting their roster, I'm wondering if there is a possibility they fall into the lottery in the short term.
damn.. picks are worthless now. if Jordan Hill was working out then I wouldnt feel as bad but damn. we got crap from NY.. this has been the worst season in years..
Knicks need picks for the immediate future. Trade them our 2011 first round pick for their 2013 and 2015 first rounders.
That valuable "other piece" is a player your stats list in the NW quadrant of O/D. Your statistical worst starter...below Lowery, Hayes, Scola and Battier...who are in the NE quadrant. C'mon now. You can't have the butter on both sides of the bread.
Statistics don't capture everything about a player. Some analyses might be interesting or valuable to look at and learn from, but there is nothing wrong with forming opinions by looking at different things or considering factors which aren't captured so neatly by the numbers. Regarding the statistics you are referencing, I thought they were interesting and so I shared it. Don't take that to mean that my personal rating for players coincides exactly with those particular stats (or any particular stats, for that matter).
Crap vs. Nothing... Crap vs. Nothing. Um...I take the Crap. Jk. We got a 2012 1st round pick. It is still a FIRST ROUND PICK. We have Morey who gets players like Brooks, Landry, & Buddinger with later picks, and this pick will easily be in the 20's, so calm down. Not to mention it is a trade asset. Plus, can we at least wait until a month or two into the 2011-12 season (if and when it ever starts) before we call Hill a bust.
And if I ever said otherwise in the past, then I have since changed my mind. But what that particular chart said was that Martin is a good offensive player and poor defensive player. I don't know about you, but my eyes tell me the same thing. Now, maybe if the Rockets put a rim protector next to him then we can somewhat mask his defensive weaknesses and thereby maximize his value to the team. One other point of clarification. When I said the other pieces makes the trade look "a little" better -- I really meant "a little". I'm not the biggest Kevin Martin fan, but he addressed a need on last year's team and he can be a valuable 2nd or 3rd scoring option for years to come.
