do u really think amare would have stayed with us for this season? it may have been worth a risk, but there was little indication he would.
let's make sure he can finish a season first before we start evaluating... here are the numbers: scola: 19.3 PPG, 50.4% FG, 8.3 RPG, 2.4 APG, 0.63 SPG, 0.86 BPG stoudemire: 26.4 PPG, 52.1% FG, 9.0 RPG, 2.5 APG, 0.97 SPG, 2.2 BPG scola: 30 years old, no major injuries, never missed a game, signed for 47 mil/5 years with last year partially guaranteed stoudemire: 28 years old, microfracture knee surgery, has missed 32 games over the last 4 years, no guarantee he would have re-signed here, 99.7 mil/5 years
7.1 extra ppg from a single position is huge, especially when we're talking about that gain over a player who is already pretty productive. Plus, Amare does it getting a lot more attention, fouls, and double teams. He's made 213 FTs to Scola's 113. Amare also doesn't get physically clowned when he tries to play defense. In short, we missed out on a chance to swap a very good role player PF for a superstar who is arguably the best PF in the NBA and someone to build around. If we had made that trade we'd probably be fighting for home court advantage right now instead of jockeying for lotto pick placement.
JCDenton, where can we meet so i can take a massive dump on your face? While i do it, i'll show you a virtual graph and a replay of the dump to face! After, you can analyze the situation.
Excellent time to login to your troll account JC! Good work! Keep trolling with this screen name. You've done well.
Do you have any proof or is this just more baseless slander? This is my only account and I post with a sincere desire to have the Rockets recognize their past mistakes and improve in the future. Right now we could have Amare, Martin, and more than enough assets to bring in CP3, Granger, or Melo, but we don't because our GM has no balls.
Lol. JCDenton requires proof. Still mad Tracy's gone. He's still going to come to Houston and destroy the Rockets and DM, right? Right after Kevin Martin shoots less than 40% from the field. Honor your bet and GTFO.
and to think after lebron took his talents to south beach, we all thought this was another smart morey move lol
Tmac has been playing really well lately and is a bargain at his salary. He would have been a great pickup this offseason had Morey not made the mistake of burning bridges with him. He still racks up assists like crazy and would have been the ideal player to run out there with Brooks and Martin. I die a little inside every time I watch those two try to create for themselves and others.
I think we all know the pick is worthless now, knicks will probably end up with the 4th seed in the east. By the end of this month we will know whether or not the rockets have a shot at the playoffs, it's not looking to good right now. and damn amare is beasting, I can't believe 90 percent of this board thought chris bosh was a better player. Our offense would be unstoppable with amare here, it wouldn't matter that our defense sucked because the only teams that play 4 qtrs of defense now are in the eastern conference, miami and boston.
Honestly, why do people say that the pick swap is WORTHLESS? It's not. Sure, right now, it looks like the Rockets will end up keeping their own pick. But that doesn't make the pick swap right worthless. It's all about INSURANCE. Amare could tear up his knee today and be out the rest of the season. Seriously, that knee is uninsurable now (one reason the Rockets didn't proceed with the Amare trade last February). Any prolonged absence by either Amare or Raymond Felton, and that Knicks team goes on a losing streak. Again, I still admit that the Knicks will likely make the playoffs, but there's no GUARANTEE that the Rockets won't make the playoffs and end with a record better than New York. Even if New York is the #5 seed in the East and the Rockets are the #8 seed in the West, draft picks among playoff teams are all about regular season record. Just because it currently looks like the Rockets will use their own pick, the fact that they have had the OPTION all season to take the higher pick (short of the Knicks getting the #1 overall pick) is not "worthless". It is insurance that will never be needed. Turns out not to be that valuable, but it was never worthless, and you're glad you had it to begin with at least.
Your right, it's not completely worthless, but fact is the Knicks play 2/3s of their games against eastern conference teams. They only appear to be getting better, they have proven they can beat any team on any given night(just beat the spurs ) and they tend to feast upon lesser teams these days. Of course an injury to amare could happen but so could something to dwade or Dwight Howard or kg and they rise even further in the standings. Amare has been healthy the pass 3-4 years, save for having his eye almost poked out which I would say is a fluke injury. Yes having the right to swap picks is nice option to have thrown into a trade, I'm just saying at this point I'd put my money on us using our own pick come draft time. And if we use our own pick come draft time the right to swap will be at value then?
Knicks lost again tonight... that's 5 in a row and 6 of their last 7. They're now 22-20 (Rockets are 20-24). Oklahoma City, Miami and Atlanta are 3 of their next 5 opponents.
The Rox could end with a better record than the Knixies - - yet the MSGers could be in the play-offs and the Rox in the Lotto. Not a reach...
True. That's why I'd prefer the Rockets just go ahead and make the playoffs. They could still end up swapping picks with NY to get, say, the 16th pick. IMO, much better than "tanking" and still only getting, say, the 11th pick.
