They were in sole posession of the 6th seed. The Cavs had the 4th seed, because they lead their division. Miami had the 5th spot with a 5-2 record. Knicks would be 6th.
If we beat the Knick's on sunday, we'll have a better record then them. We can start seeing the Rockets Logo in the NY Knick's spot on the mock draft boards! --RB
Let me get this straight. If next year's NY pick is #2 or lower we have the OPTION to swap with them. Doesn't that mean that if our pick is actualy higher than theirs, then we can choose NOT to swap picks? If so, we get the better picks either way.
The pick swap finally became something tonight. Knicks 6th pick and 53 ping pong balls for the 2nd/3rd picks Rockets 10th pick and 14 ping pong balls for the 1st/2nd/3rd picks. Rockets gain 53 extra ping pong balls through the Knicks. Yippee!
After watching today's game, it is clear to me that we are going to be getting a lottery pick this year courtesy of the knicks
The Knicks are so terrible that words cannot describe how bad they're. Barring a miracle (Knicks get Carmelo, Nash, players of that caliber), or a disaster (Rockets continue to have major injuries), Knicks will be handing over a high pick. I can only hope that they dont win the Lottery.
Horrid thought, but it is possible for the Knicks and Rockets to swap picks and the NYK still win a top 3 pick via ping pong ball. That would be tragic! Or is the pick swap guaranteed AFTER ping pong selections?
I would hope so, but I don't know for certain. If I were NY, I would've kept that as a "wing and a prayer" condition. I'd like clarification on it.
That is a horrid thought but not possible because we will make the playoffs. But even if we don't make the playoffs there pick is only overall first pick protected. Which means it would have to be after the lottery balls have been selected and the 1st overall pick is determined. Otherwise how could they know if they have the first pick. Which also explains why the Rockets option to select the Knicks pick is at least determined sometime after the ping pong balls are selected and not at risk of being lost if they were to get wildly lucky and draw a top 3 ball. So no worries we will recieve the Knicks pick if we want after we know what the Knicks and our pick is. No question on that.
It's still early to determine the worth of the picks... But it would be nice if we can get the higher of Houston/Knicks draft picks with the swaps... No wonder the Knicks fans booed at their team... They bascially gave away a lot thinking they can get something decent, but in the end they got back nothing much...
http://espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/playoffodds The ESPN Mock Draft generator won't update using the 2010-11 records likely until the All Star break.
The Knicks continued poor playing increases the likelihood of the Melo trade happening before the deadline. The Knicks will soften their stance to try and salvage the season and appease the restless fans.
Both teams fighting hard to see who can be worse after a decent start for the Knicks. Date: 11/18/2010 Knicks: 4-8 (tied for 10th seed) Rockets: 3-8 (second to last in conference) So now that the Knicks are in the lotto the swap might have some value although it could easily turn out to be worthless.
