When our last couple of years have been ruined by relying on 2 injured stars, I don't think it's best for the franchise to invest max money in a guy whose knees are so shut that his own team, with arguably the best medical staff in the league, won't even guarentee his contract. I don't mind hearing criticism but lets tell the whole story when we do it.
This is what I've been thinking. They have very much limited their 3-pt shooting with this trade. Also Amare has not played a full season at this MPG in 6 years. Fields has been great, but now with a bigger load can he last the rest of the season? Even Chauncey minutes will be a big issue now too. They had been limited in Denver due to his age. Will they be able to trust T. Douglas with more minutes at the PG? Plus, their schedule is not the easiest. They still have 14 road games and 8 back to backs. They have many 5 gimme wins against the Raps, Cavs, & Nets, but the rest of their games are against good teams or East teams fighting for a playoff spot that have already formed some sort of chemistry.. Still I don't think they will miss the playoffs, but I could see them with a record > .500.
Considering Denver's trying to unload Felton for a pick, I'm quite sure NY's 2012 pick would've been even easier sell to Denver than Felton. And Jeffries contract would make up the salary difference.
The Rockets did not show any interest in any of the Knicks players except for Randolph, and they didnt think he was worth the pick and obviously decided they would rather develop Hill and Patterson. Felton would not have made sense for the Rockets to aquire. Randolph's reputation might have something to do with that as well, seeing as thought they already have one of two big "personalities" already in the locker room I can see why they passed.
What's New York's future looking like compared to Houston's? What is New York's record compared to Houston? The only thing Houston has is 2 wins on New York during the season this year. New York just got Carmelo Anthony and Chancey Billups next to Amare Stoudemire... the they are about to get better after this. They are a big media market with style and commercial opprotunitis. NBA is a big fixed league. Morey is a good GM but he can't compete with that. He got owned by the NBA lol!
If the Knicks lose against playoff teams and go 50/50 against lottery teams like the Bucks and Cavs. The pick might be worth something after all.
This.....I'm onn my phone so it's too much trouble to look at standings, but I would be willing to bet that the Knicks have almost no chance of missing the playoffs, which, unless we somehow get a better record than them and make the playoffs, makes the swap worthless. Pugs
lol get better? They're an overhyped and thin team headed towards CBA uncertainty. Can't even fill up the rest of their roster with draft picks...
While true, I don't think anyone is pinning the Knicks as contenders anytime soon, and their cap space/projections doesn't spell room for getting better roster-wise.
Yeah but Knicks team gave away Gallo, Chandler, and Felton all averaging over 15 points game. They gave away size and depth. All of it. Knicks=Yao and Tmac era.
The Knicks only have 1 more win than the Rockets. The Knicks should be 10 games ahead of us. The Knicks have a much better roster, but the coach is handicapping their performance. They get outrebounded every game. Even though D'Antoni had a seven foot C in Timofey(before the trade), D'Antoni used Stoudemire at C and Wilson Chandler at PF. Timofey didn't get playtime until near the tradeline. It might have been only to showcase him for the Carmelo trade. Even though they have nearly the same number of wins as the Rockets, they are still in the playoffs. The bottom of the East is really really bad. The pick swap will be worthless, even if the Knicks get swept by lottery teams like the Cavs(0-2 for the season).
Didn't we beat them twice head to head? Knicks record = 29-27, Rockets record = 28-30. Granted it would be tough to beat NYC right now going head to head with them adding Melo and us loosing Batman.
