KJ Martin mentioned. 2020 re-draft. KJ drafted 52nd, they pick him 12th. And as originally posted in the scary KJ Martin thread by @zeeshan2 so props to him.
Finding value in fringe NBA players seems to be Stone's talent. Matthews, Tate, Brooks, KMJ. That's 4 players in just one year. Factor in 2 more first round picks this year, 2 next year, and all the incoming Brooklyn picks, and it's obvious Rockets really need to consolidate the roster. I'm a fan of every young Rocket we have, but some guys need to go, otherwise Stone won't be able to find future gems I think a lot of these picks need to be packaged to move up in the draft. I haven't even mentioned the potential picks we will get for Wood or Gordon if they are moved.
KJ Martin should start. He’s just a better fit with our best players. Is what it is. He’s had chemistry with Sengun and Green from day one since summer league.
43% in Feb over 10 games and 50% in March over 6. Those are not sustainable, but it gives some confidence that he is truly improving. If he can stick at 38-40%, he is an extremely valuable piece. Not an all-star, but a super 3 and D wing or small PF.
KJ's threes are getting better, and I have no doubt next year he'll be even more consistent. He also has a great motor, and is one of the few players on our team that is always moving without the ball--probably why he's Sengun's most consistent target. I wish he would finish some of those crazy highlights though... Sky's the limit for our young guys.
Love his fit with the starters so much more than wood He knows his role and plays it perfectly. Never demands the ball. Finds open space and finishes at the rim. Starting to take and hit those open 3s too. Offense looked completely different without Wood stat stuffing
Can you imagine if he had his father's size? Never mind he wouldn't have been available at 52 if he did.
KJ looks like he's improving so much, and I'm really happy for him. I've seen teams start to leave him more and more lately, so that shooting is going to help a lot. What he's going to need to improve this summer (don't think it can realistically happen in the next month) is his decision making with the ball in his hands. I don't think he's comfortable in that high post or when he's given the ball 15 feet away from the basket. He looks much more confident at the 3 point line and he's been a monster around the basket already. He seems to be in a hurry to do something, and hopefully the game continues to slow down for him. Being in the middle of a defense like that when you're not really a playmaker is tough for any young player to adjust to.
