Why is this movie almost 2.5 hours long?

The move he did in the last fight was something out of the Matrix. If that happened in a real tourny I don't think the crowds reaction would have been cheering, but more like "Holy Fu*k".

Not as good as the original, but I still enjoyed it. Definitely worth seeing imo.

I saw this last night with my niece and nephew. They loved it. However I grew up watching the originals (have the trilogy at my folks house on VHS) and of course couldn't enjoy it as much as the original from '84. The reason being is that the original was a movie made for teenagers and this one is geared directly toward kids (even though I was under 10 when I saw the original).

The one thing that bothered me the most:
I hated the tournament scenes where the camera would move to the LCD scores and would have instant replays and pictures of the fighters. It tried to give a feeling of playing a video game, but I'm sure the kids just ate it up.

But, your kids will love this movie. I'm just glad I got to see it.

There was a line outside the theater room when we got there, and late comers had to receive refunds because there were no more seats.

I've always liked Jackie Chan and he did a decent role, but he'll never replace Pat Morita (Mr. Miyagi) in this role. RIP :(

So true. My 18 yr old will go with her college homies, but i will take my 8 and 4 yr old. I'm kinda tired of all the remakes, but i guess its better than nothing. Its not like they weren't remaking movies when we were growing up. I remember guys getting in trouble at school for the crane move and kicking a kid in the face, lol.

When the Karate Kid came out in Taiwan, the Chinese title was the "Kung-Fu Kid" (not sure how it was translated in Hong Kong and the movie probably wasn't available in Mainland China back in the days).

Just saw it and thought it was pretty good. Jaden showed much better acting chops than most expected and Jackie was great. Should shut up the haters. Crowd experience was awesome with everyone cheering at the end. First time I've enjoyed a loud audience at a movie theater in a long while.

Why will it shut up haters? If the story is identical even if it is well done it sucks. Why would i see a movie in theaters that comes on basic cable once a week?

Colin Hanks is alive and well, I saw him in some promo for a summer show airing on some cable network.

Um ok, whatever. I liked it. Really couldn't care less whether you see it or not.

"Haters" = People that thought the kid couldn't act and that the movie would bomb.

I didn't see anyone doubting he could act. I say people saying it is unnecessary and stupid.

Plus if the Kid becomes popular and awesome it ruins the story.

Daniel was a loser and Mr. Miyagi was an old dude who looked like anyone could destroy.

Thought about him, but he's 32 and not quite the baby face that Fox had to pull off the high school student that Marty was. I was thinking more of Tom Hanks' other 2 sons, but then again they'll probably make Marty a middle aged perpetual college student.
