Yeah- I was more thinking about it from the standpoint of the prospect. He played in 7 seasons. He got a real pension. He made it through arbitration which means 8 figure earnings now. He can come back to reunions, sign cards, go on tv or radio shows if he wants etc. he gets a pretty decent retirement package. Thats all pretty cool stuff.
Deciding on whether he goes to IL or just needs a day or 2 would be the reason to wait regarding Chas. I did see that Chas's hamstring still is bothering him.
I get that. There has to be a move regardless, so it all seems a bit odd to me. I know the Astros always play most things close to the vest but damn. Seems like something would have given by now.
And he took 7 years off and came back as a pitcher appearing in 3 games (starting 1). Only allowed 1 run in 10.1 innings, 7 hits 0 BB and 6 Ks Very respectable Anyone know why that didn't continue?
So they were 100% trying to work out a larger deal and planned on making a smaller move if that fell through. No way they waited this long to put Kessinger on the IR while announcing ahead of time Loperfido was coming up.
