Well, you go there anyways and take your lousy $3 mill/year gauranteed contract and suck it up for 4 years and then chose where you want to go. Most people have to go through a crappy situation in their first couple jobs before they get to the point that they want. They don't have million dollar contracts either.
Why should he do it if he doesn't have to? It doesn't make sense. Bogut has the leverage and the ability to make sure he goes where he thinks it will benifit him the best, and where he wants to go. Why shouldn't he use it? No offense, but going someplace you won't enjoy being, when you have the ability to go somewhere that you will enjoy being is just stupid, and pointless. Is he going to get some kind of blue ribbon for playing five years with Atlanta before he goes where he wants? He's not going to get a damn thing out of it. And I'm glad we've decided that money can buy happiness after all.
The Jazz have been a free agent hellhole where they are forced to overpay players to get them to sign. If someone actually wants to go to Utah, more power to him.
Actually its five years because you have to take the quilifying offer to become an unrestricted free agent. Otherwise, you that team could match. 5 years of your career getting under market value playing for a crappy team pretty much sucks.
Utah Jazz owner Larry Smith [??] or whatever his name is admitted as much. He clearlyt confessed somemonths back that he regrets or at least regreted signing Boozer - a mistake in essence. Now on to Bogut; he will be a great pro but sending out musings like these through his agents will only hurt him. That said, I actually see Chalotte or New Orleans landing the #1 slot. Bogut is not even a guaranteed #1 overrall as we speak. That will be cleared up when individual workouts and interview start. We have seen players come from nowhere and rise to the top in the draft. This will become clearer by mid May.
On radio, Bogut said he doesn't care if he's #1, #2 or #5. His top priority is to land in a situation that fits him. He didn't elaborate on that. However, right after he said that, he talked about how much he loves Utah and the Jazz... Basically, he was saying "screw the draft position, I don't care. Get me to the Jazz!"
This whole "Bogut will only play for the Jazz" thing sounds like fake drama. If his agent was worth anything, he would know not to make these comments out in public and demonize client. If he would truly only play for the Jazz, they will let the season play out and then negotiate after the picks have been solidified. I'm really sure a kid is going to make up his mind on what team he wants to play for a week after finishing his college career.
Please..."Oh I've been here for 2 years and I loooooooooooooooooooove the Jazz eventhough they've been garbage the entire time I've been here."
What's even more scary about Utah landing Bogut is that it makes it even easier for them to trade Boozer. GSW need someone like Boozer and Utah need a PG (Fisher is now redundant with Davis there)...
Drink some coffee/tea/redbull/steroid and get yourself out of your jerkass mood. Make your comments after you hear what he said. Here is what I know: 1. People in Utah are discussing on a daily basis whether they want Bogut or Paul if they are given the chance. 2. Bogut said he likes the Jazz on many occasions (radio, TV, newspaper, you name it). He said staying in Utah would be his top choice. Bogut also played alot of pickup games with the Jazz players in the offseason. 3. His agent said he doesn't want to go to Atlanta, and would do whatever to get him traded if he's selected by Atlanta. That's all there is to it. Again, we are in what's called "the information age". It's better that you get some information, then make a comment. BTW, there could be some smoke screen from the part of the Jazz. They probably need Paul more than Bogut. So, you never know.
Jeez it not like he's asking to go to Miami or LA. He's choosing Utah. Notorious for sucking the hormones out Young and rich male 20 somethings. If we continue with the Lawyer analogy I pose the question: would you rather be a hot shot LAwyer in Utah or Atlanta??? Yes 99.9% of us would hed straight to the glitz and neon of Atlanta's strip club scene. Bogout is choosing Utah over Atlanta indicating that he cares more about the quality of the organization. This says more aboout Atlanta than it does Bogout. ...and on that thought Im headed to the Treasures.
