Besides the streaky shooting Green has to quit trying to dunk through much bigger defenders. Really rough to watch game from him tonight.

You are the stupid one here Brewer is a career 8 ppg player he was never seen as a streaky scorer he scored like 48 one time in his life or w/e other than that he averages less than 10 ppg for most of his career. His rookie year Brewer averaged 5 ppg a game whst do mean scorer in transition? He is pretty much a defensive specialist nobody expects him to score and he has never been a scorer in any capacity in the NBA. What potential are you talking about? Just cuz he is a top 10 pick suddenly Brewer had lots of potential? Ok I guess Adam Morrison and Desagan Diop had superstar potential too they just didnt develop it amirite?

Are you really so ignorant you confused a defensive specialist with a streaky scorer? That's like saying Anthony Edwards can be as good as Bruce Bowen some day, makes zero sense and a comment only somebody who never watches bball would make.

Even if he never developed a single ioata Green is already a lot better than Brewer ever was in terms of scoring so how can Green even hope to be as good as Brewer? Just admit you went full r****d hating on Green and just stop.

The only players who get fundamentals in NCAA are the ones who stay for their junior-senior years. The one and dones dont get any fundamental training and actually get less fundamental training than in the GLeague.

Fundamentals isnt obtained by playing in game, it is obtained by work OUT of the court. You dont learn how to dribble, the correct shooting form or proper defense during the game, that stuff is learned on time outside the court. In the NCAA, the one and dones get very little of that cuz the college coach needs to spend the time teaching them organized bball and how to run their plays first. Whi has time to teach freshmen fundamentals? The NCAA coach needs to focus on getting that W. Thats why there's a lot of emphasis on recruiting, college coaches want players who already have good skills so they can focus on winning games. OTH winning doesnt really matter in GLeague, the emphasis is on skills development and skill showcase, teams wanna see what you got. They gonna tell Josh Christopher to run the point and make Garuba the main scorer, who cares about winning the game? JC is prob got more development in his brief GLeague stint than he got his entire year in college.

People always get the GLeague wrong. They assume just because people are chill the competition is somehow worse than in the NCAA. GLeague is a who's who of NCAA even if they arent trying hard they would demolish the typical NCAA team.

In today's lesson, mindless driving is not always good. Most of the layups he missed he had no angles, he got to rim but didn't use his body to shield or try to pass it out.

Really? So, in your mind, Corey Brewer wasn't known as a streaky shooter?

I feel like I should welcome you to following basketball because there's no way you've been following it for long if you don't know better than that. Also, citing career per game numbers in this conversation is another fun rookie mistake. Check out his per 36 numbers...If you don't know why those are the relevant numbers, keep following basketball for a few more years and at some point you'll figure it out.

Corey Brewer came out of college with a ton of potential as a super quick athletic player much the same as Green. Now sure, Brewer was always a better defender than Green will ever be, but there are still quite a few similarities.

Brewer never developed beyond being a streaky shooting, exceptionally quick player who scored mostly in transition and when he happened to be hot from 3....that's why he ended up a 6th man type. If Green never develops beyond where he is right now, that's what he'll be too.

Poor game from Jalen on both sides of the court, but as usual he'll bounce back and keep improving. Never gives up and obviously has the mindset of "next shot is going in" no matter what.

He should NOT stop attacking big men. He should keep doing it. That's what made him go from no free throws to leading all rookies, he doesn't give up. He just goes back to the gym and film. Not worried about his finishing anymore. He just needs reps against more and better defenders so he figures out where the cracks in the defense are and the scouting reports start becoming instinct. The other element that needs improving is his strength but that will come with time, he will be stronger next season.

I was a bit worried when we drafted him that his maturity may be in question, but he's been a soldier man, just works hard. Can't be mad at a guy like that having an off night.

    Part of the journey, mang.

Being on a bad team, that will rub off on him. It is going to be inevitable.

Hot and cold nights come and go though.

Corey Brewer isnt even a shooter he is almost strictly a layup guy. STREAKY means he will have nights of good shooting and nights of bad shooting. Danny Green is an example of streaky shooter. Ryan Anderson is an example of a streaker shooter. Corey Brewer is a career 8 ppg scorer except for a couple of times his entire career when has he had nights when he is hot from 3? He only averaged 2 3 pt attempts his entire career so when you say he has good 3 pt shooting nights you mean when he makes his 2 attempts? Gimme a break. Btw he averaged 28% from 3 so he isnt streaky he is a bad shooter.

Why should we look at per 36 when Brewer is a scrub who averaged 22 mins a night? Just bump his stats by 30% for no reason? Is that how you analyze? By that logic Hasheem Thabeet is a double double machine per 48 omg. Even dumber Green is 18 ppg per 36, Brewer is only 13 per 36 on bad efficiency. So even using your method they still nowhere similar.

And Brewer came out from college as a lockdown defender/ specialist eith no scoring skills Green is seen as the opposite. In fact Green's weakness is defense so nah they have few to little similarities other being both black and athletic (btw Green is half so they arent similar in race). They dont even play the same position Green is a pure scoring guard Brewer was seen as a defensive SF. Nobody said Brewer has a ton of potential, being sthletic doesnt equal potential thats why Jericho Sims fell far in the draft even if he is one of the most athletic players in the drsft.

    http://www.mynbadraft.com/NBA-Draft-Profiles-2007/Corey-Brewer

Again this is like saying rookie Trevor Ariza and rookie Kobe Bryant are similar cuz both are athletic. Makes zero sense to anybody who knows bball.

I’ll hold you to this one, Bobby!:p

I’d like to believe that Green will become a much better defender than master gambler Corey Brewer. He’s got to be a better one-on-one defender than Brewer one day, at least.

    Lol. SMH.

Ryan Anderson was a career 38% 3 point shooter... that's a good shooter, not a streaky shooter.

How are you struggling this much?

Corey Brewer was a streaky rather than good shooter..... he have nights where he was 6 for 8, he have nights when he was 1 for 8..... you know, just like current Jalen Green.

Also I guess I have to spell out for you why per 36 minutes are relevant when discussing guys who come off the bench.... again, welcome to following basketball.

A player who scores 10 points a game in 7 minutes a game is a better scorer than someone who scores 16 points per game in 30 minutes per game. If you just look at the points per game stat you might be fooled into thinking the opposite.

Hopefully you keep watching basketball though so that one day these kinds of conversations will be easier for you.

I hope he develops into a better player than Brewer across the board. I'd like nothing more than for the delusional fanbois to end up being right.... that Green is the next Kobe/MJ.

I just don't think it's productive to ignore the fact that talking that way is like talking about how you are going to spend the winnings as you buy the lottery ticket.

You are the one struggling here. You can be a streaky scorer and still average at a high average. If you shoot 100% one game and 0% the next what is your 3 pt average? 50%. Is that high or low? Are you streaky or not? Try to keep up why are you struggling so much? Are you really a Rocket fan? You dont know Road Ryno and Home Ryno? You dont know the memes of depth perception at Toyota Center? Anderson is the textbook def of streaky shooter man you dont know that? Turn in your Rox privilege cuz you aint got a clue.

When did Corey Brewer have multiple night when he is 6/8 just like Jalen Green? The highest amount of attempts he averaged a season is 3. If you go to his game logs, you will see his attempts per game is 0-3 90% of the time for the season. 8 vs 3 do you know math yes or no? If you just wanna look at efficiency, why bother with per 36? You realize there is a metric called shooting PERCENTAGE right? With a percentage you dont need to use per nos, the percentage doesnt change no matter how many PER you use. What is Brewer 3 pt average per 1000? Still 28%, the same ss his real in game average of 22 mins. Brewer is not a streaker shooter, he is a bad/limited shooter. He doesnt reach high attempts to qualify as having a good shooting night.

    Why you struggling so much?

You are the one who needs to get a clue not me. Nothing you have said makes any sense so far.

It’s not realistic to think Jalen will turn into Kobe/Jordan. One is a generational player, the other is the best guard of all time. However, I have seen enough flashes from Green so far to hope that he can become a quicker Zach Lavine, at least.

Is that hypothetical player going to lead a team to a championship? Most likely no but he can definitely be a star on a contender.

Of course, right now he is far far FAR from my projection...though Basketball Gods willing he will become the next Kobe/Jordan. That’d be good for the Rockets.

    So ...

Jalen Green's contribution to Rockets basketball is that of a deep-threat wide receiver, pulling a safety out of the box to play over top in case the corner gets beaten ..?

Man people are REALLY stretching these days to point out anything positive

I have never heard any basketball player praised for route running on a fast break

..Corey Brewer has been praised for that...but I refuse to give Bobby any more ammunition ;)
