Do you have inside access or you just pulling **** up your ass as per usual? Limited info is due to people not being omniscient and not knowing how people would turn out a year later and vs NBA competition. Analytics and scouting aren't 100% accurate all the analytics and scouting said Corey Kispert would be an instant impact and accurate 3 pt sniper at the NBA level. How did that turn out? Mobley not being another Poku is something we know now but didn't know prior to the draft. All analytics and scouting can give you are projections, they can''t predict anything with certainty as factors like drive, maturity, health and luck aren't part of statistical models despite usually being the main difference between mediocrity and superstardom. You realize the team who drafted Poku in the first place is arguably the most analytics and scouting focused team in the NBA, the OKC Thunder right? SMH.
That's normal draft hype. How many people were all up Zion's grill prior to the draft and then forgot about him a year later?
That's cuz everyone knew Rox are gonna pick Green. Green only worked out for Pistons and Rox omg I guess the other 29 teams are **** right? https://bleacherreport.com/articles...work-out-for-pistons-rockets-before-nba-draft Mobley refused to work out for both Pistons and Cavs: https://rocketswire.usatoday.com/20...ley-hasnt-worked-out-with-rockets-or-pistons/ So that's on the Rockets and Pistons? LOL gimme a break.
It depends on the situation in the past everything is up in the air so players worked out for everyone but in today's era with social media and mock sites and whatever almost everyone has a gist of who the top teams are gonna pick. Detroit was choosing between Jalen or Cade so both Cade and Jalen got a workout. Cade knew he was going no 1 so didn't bother working out for Cavs and Rockets. Rox were gonna pick whoever Detroit didn't select. Jalen worked out for both Pistons and Rox and Cade didnt bother since he would be gone by 1. Mobley knew he was going 3rd to Cleveland so didn't bother working out for either Houston or Detroit. Tin Foil hatters say its just all about Fertita and Stone being hated by draft prospects but then how come nobody else but Mobley worked out for Cleveland and only Mobley and Cade worked out for Detroit? It's all baseless accusations, as per usual.
Your first sentence made my point for me. Rockets FO is INCOMPETENT. Not only did they telegraph their pick but they chose the wrong player to boot.
Rockets would be foolish not to at least consider ANY trade. Especially for Jalen Green. Green is unlikely to be best player on championship team. No matter how long we wait.
A dozen games in G League + HS + International experience wasn't even sufficient enough data for a correct assessment. And Rockets made their preference for Jalen Green known LONG before he even worked out for the team. It was the worst kept secret in NBA leading up to draft. Again, the Rockets FO is incompetent.
A correct "assessment" isn't even available yet until this rookie class gets in a couple of offseasons in them. That's when work ethic differentiates the rookie class. We haven't even reached one offseason yet with this class so chill with the doom and gloom.
20. San Antonio Spurs (via TOR) Jaden Hardy | 6-4 guard | 19 years old | G League Ignite Jaden Hardy has been kind of a mess in the G League. His overall numbers are pretty iffy. In 19 games played, he’s averaging less than 19 points (in a league known for gaudy scoring totals) while shooting about 36 percent from the field and 27 percent from 3. He takes a ton of terrible-looking shots per game and has a negative assist-to-turnover ratio as a smaller combo guard. Oh, and you can forget about him playing defense at a consistent level. All of the warning signs here are bad. But then, he throws up some flashes like his 31-point, nine-assist game against Capital City, and you want to jump back in and say he can be an effective source of offense in the NBA. At the end of the day, Hardy has a lot of talent but needs to adjust his mindset toward more of a style conducive to winning basketball. The shot selection, turnovers and defense will drive coaches crazy right now. The one thing saving him is that this draft class continues to provide a lack of other quality options around him. His next big opportunity will be at the All-Star break, where he’ll get to compete in the Rising Stars competition, something very well suited to his skill set.
That is just me, I would stay away from the Ignite team a while. I did not have a good feeling about them.
Touche! Was wrong about Hardy. Still believe the guards in top 7 of this draft will be better than any guard in last year's draft, not counting Scottie Barnes. But not sure why Hardy has regressed so much, especially defensively. Starting to wonder about the Ignite coaching staff. But I'm certain that whichever team that drafts Hardy at 20 will be pleasantly surprised.
Why did this topic die? Some of the most asinine, **** talking comments I've ever read about a rookie and now the "I always wanted him to succeed" backtracking in the new thread is just embarrassing.
