Yeah you're right, there are 4 people who come to mind that are tirelessly anti Jalen in every single thread on this board. You're saying if you ignore them then it doesn't exist? You could say that about anything. If you ignore all the guys who don't like Jalen, then there are no Jalen haters. I don't really think that invalidates it. I also don't agree with you that they're all "obviously trolling" though.
seems to me that you’re not including the poster you’re replying to in that group… Yet, he was just included in @i3artow i3aller ’s black list. That’s the problem with these black lists, they are highly subjective based on people’s sensitivities. What one may consider valid criticism, another may consider hate-speech.
Black list? Hate speech? Sensitivities? What a weird way to blow this out of proportion and turn it into something it's not. You can post about whatever you want man, I don't care, I don't want you exiled from this place. But yeah, I don't include jigglyfly on there because he posts about other stuff. He doesn't only post about Jalen and doesn't turn everything into a knock on Jalen. Sure, he thinks he sucks, and that's fine, but he's not a one dimensional poster. If I see that jigglyfly posted in a Sengun thread, I'd bet money that he's talking about Sengun. If I see that Bobby, as an example, posted in a Sengun thread, I could bet money that he's in there posting about Jalen. Not everyone has to like Jalen Green, and it's fine to be unhappy with the pick. He has not been good. I'm not happy with the pick. But 90 out of my last 100 posts are not about Jalen Green.
The fact of the matter is we won't possibly know who is "right" about Jalen Green for another season and possibly not even until his 3rd year. That said, and I mean no offense to anybody in particular, but there does seem to be a group of people on this board that for whatever reasons don't believe that Jalen Green can become a good player let alone a star. Some of them never liked his game. They are well within their right to voice that opinion all they want and if you disagree you can choose to dispute their claims with data or argue with them all you want. Or of course, just ignore their posts and move on. Every argument doesn't always demand a counterargument. The only thing that really frustrates me is the lack of patience I see here with these super young players. It is a truly short-sighted view however to think that what Jalen Green is now is what he is always destined to be. I saw in a different thread somebody questioning whether or not Jalen Green was even better than Tre Mann and to be fair, the poster made a solid point because no Jalen Green isn't inherently any better than Tre Mann right now statistically, but this year is not the real measure of whether or not Green was a good or bad pick. Guys work on their games and get better. Take Tre Mann himself for example. He wouldn't have even gotten drafted after his freshman season when he averaged 5 points per game before going on to be mentioned as a possible lottery selection after his sophomore year. In this upcoming draft, Jaden Ivey is projected to go top 5 but averaged 11 points and 2 assists per game on 39% shooting and 26% from the COLLEGE 3 point line after his freshman season. There is a reason he went back to Purdue. He got better and his draft stock skyrocketed. These guys worked on their games and improved. Jalen Green will too. How much, remains to be seen.
valid objection on the "persecution" vocabulary, but I was obviously being metaphorical. Clutch runs this place in a no-nonsense manner, so no chance he’ll start blacklisting and banning people because of the hypersensitivities of a few hysterical cupcakes with an unhealthy infatuation. But the other point stands: you may appreciate jigglyfly, but he’s an angry mobster according to @i3artow i3aller . You say you like diversified posters, but others may like single-issue voters, eeer posters…etc.
I want to revisit the Tre Mann question after the season, but as of now your argument is more in favor of Mann than Green. Ability to improve is very important. I’m not seeing Jalen Green improvement since Summer League. Tre Mann, as you say improved from freshman to sophomore, he also is improving during this season at OKC…
Well that's simply untrue. I like @jiggyfly. My thoughts on Jiggy fall in line with harold's. A little banter certainly isn't going to change that.
This thread will be funny 5 years from now, one way or another. Well, that's part of the fun in these forums, right?
Jalen Green is already better than the major busts (Bennett, Fultz) I’d day his career so far is starting similar to other 2 picks Victor Oladipo and Deangelo Russell. Both these guys ended up being good. Not all nba caliber but good. Green has more athleticism than both though
Never said Jalen can’t be a good player. Always said his upside was Lavine, not someone you can build around but perhaps the third best player on a contending team. The issue was always where Jalen was getting picked and who was still available. The problem now is that so far he is even underachieving that low bar, which is rubbing salt on a wound. That’s not to say he can’t improve, I don’t think even his most staunch haters have suggested that. He has to improve, unless he really is going to stay as one of the worst players in the league like he currently is, which I don’t think anyone expects.
The team's D has to improve. Right now KPJ or Green could average 25 ppg and the team would still suck ass. I get that talking about or against individual players is so much more fun to certain posters but hell the team is more important. Unless he is Jordan or Hakeem, that Jalen dude is not going to be that gamechanger. Borderline Allstar, Allstar or just a regular player or not. Hot air out of a balloon.
He actually surprised me with a little more bag and allround game than expected but he still looks like a kid against grown men out there at times. Well, I know, he is a kid, but Christopher is looking like a normal man.
Oladipo was better than Deangelo before his injury, he went hard against Cavs Lebron. I think Dlo is just a nice regular season player. Edwards if he could improve his D, is going to be Monster though, the Wiggins conundrum was hanging over that franchise.
I think you tend to forget that he's still a rookie. Let's wait till he's adjusted. There are lots of players that blooms in their 2nd year. The summer after the rookie year is a time to think and adjust. By this time, we'll also know if he will live up to expectations. Caris LeVert is somehow getting better. I hope it will be true also for Jalen.
That's right guys, always keep one foot out the door. What does it mean to be heavily negative in the majority of your analysis of Green while leaving the door open that he could become a star. What is that? We're out here making decisive predictions. Imagine if I actually thought Jalen could end up a bust, what kind of faith is that in my simultaneous prediction that he's going to become a star? lol Weak. Weak. Weak. Let's see you guys make some concrete predictions for once. Is he going to be a bust, role player or a star scorer?
