In the context of changing shooting form, “went away from” does not imply that it was a conscious decision. It’s way more nuanced than you think , but only intelligent people can understand nuance.
He grew as the game went on because he is a rhythm player. Green has always played better with the ball in his hands than as an off ball threat. It seems coach wants to protect Green, but he's actually forcing Green to play in the exact opposite way of his strengths.
He does tend to stop and become deer in headlights when he runs into someone parked in paint. He really needs to develop Euro step or a floater. Cannot learn it soon enough.
Jalen bouncing back the right way, forcing an efficient game. 17 points on 11 shots. Not to mention he played great defense and was excellent passing the ball. Took a few stupid shots here and there but overall his energy went way up when we got close to stealing the game. Need Gordon and Wood outta here. Helping in the wins department but overall net negative to their teammates' development imo, they don't look for cutters or open guys, don't generate enough assists for their USG%. Always pouting, whining to referees and teammates. Christopher is definitely ready to be part of the rotation off the bench. Sengun or KJ need to take one step up in maturity and I think they'll look great in extended minutes. Happy for Theis to rejoin the rotation after trading Wood, can give us 15 minutes.
I have just watched the highlights of tonights game - and it seems like they finally ran some pick and rolls with him in the 4th. First with KJ Martin that led to a nice assist, then with Wood that made the Blazers switch defenders and Green hit a step back three. That should be his bread and butter play - get a screen, use his quickness and either get an open shot, a foul or an assist. I don‘t care, if he doesn‘t finish in traffic regularly right now - he needs to put an emphasis on learning that in practice and in games. With his quickness, that would be unguardable. So let him focus on that. Give him 10 pick and roll situations a game - and make him run into Garuba every practice trying to finish. He seems to have the work ethic, so I am hopeful, that he can and will learn that and become really dangerous.
Yeah the only issue is they slow down the pace too much when going to Green and that's not where he's effective. He's not the Harden type who is lethal in slow isolation, he should be getting these looks in high pace, fast motion and the plays need to be run way more swiftly. It's a bit clumsy still. When he's shooting poorly off the catch it's hard to imagine he's a guy that can heat up so easily by running a few plays for him. Learning how to score at the FT line when his shot is not falling will make a huge difference and allow him to understand what's making his game inconsistent and lack impact on wins. He's taking far fewer mid range jumpers which is great too, he was horrible at them. I think they will feature him a lot more after the ASB, excited to see the results.
snthony edwards was more advanced coming into the league, but jg was seen as the better prospect of the 2
I think everyone was extremely wrong about Green's readiness for the NBA, at the start of the season he was far behind the other picks in understanding team ball.
I think the g-league playing so few games really hurt his development tbh, may be that he'd be a lot further along with a real season under his belt.
What transpired back then was not a radical change, Lucas just dared him to accelerate his release from what I understand. When his limbs get taxed, it is natural his form and release is going back to where he started. I went back and I saw the game stats, he shot above 40%, it weren't that many, 3 to 4 games. You do not need to sound intelligent and using the word nuanced for a simple shot mechanic. Just an opinion.
