Yahoo was the main search engine
    forums were IRC.
Most webpages were coded only in HTML
Domain names were very cheap. You could have bought NBA.com for $5 and made a huge profit.

I printed a black and white nude of some girl with a huge rack during my first ever pron experience. I was so excited and proud and felt like I discovered something that all my friends would be eager to see.

I took that printed A4 size black and white nude to school and got busted by the teachers and eventually severely punished. Reality check at that point.

Question- and Im serious- why do people say "pron" or "pr0n" instead of just typing p*rn? I imagine a little kid giggling when they go to type p*rn so they substitute or switch the letters/numbers around.

It mostly has to do with work. Most of us surf CF at work (because we're busy that way) and don't want that word to show up on our history, hence pr0nz. At least that's my reasoning.

Maybe the person below me has a better explanation.

This was the best, though. It built up suspense. First you get the face, then you get the t***, then you finally made it to the legs/ass.

Oh yes! I remember "ate my balls" pages.

Browsing in Netscape or Mosaic; of course not too many people or entities had webpages yet. We would start on our college's website, look at individual pages of those who had managed to make one (and you had to write the html yourself) and see if they had cool links to follow. One had found a "revolving door" which just sent you random places on the Net. I learned early on that it was a fun way to put off work. There was a lot of text-only stuff, such as usenet newsgroups, where people congregated. I would find ones to read on my lunch break, such as The Simpsons ("who shot Mr. Burns?" was the hot topic) and U2.

By the next year, I had made a rough html personal page - no social networking yet, but you could find links to who had them - and then, looking for Rockets discussion, discovered the original version of Clutch City. I always wanted to create a "Bono ate my balls", but never did.

I remember Napster and Kazaa very well. Searching for downloads from people who had DSL, T1, or cable connections. Then waiting 1-2 hours to download ONE song. Gotta love that old 56k connection.

During the download I would listen to the song on repeat in Winamp media player. It would play up to the point that had been downloaded then start over. So each replay was about two or three seconds longer than the one before. I knew the lyrics to every song by the time the download completed.

I would also load them up in Virtual Turntables or Ots to chop and screw them (Haha) and record in Acid Foundry or Goldwave. I probably made over $2-3k my senior year of high school by selling CDs.

I was more focused on that then I was on school or sports.
