Theres a joke about black people being named after the cars they were conceived in. I always found it funny since I was friends with a guy named Tercel.
What strip club does she work in? Seriously... My cousin named his daughter Mercedes...well, at least I'm glad she wasn't named Kia or Saturn...Names do have a lot to do with everything...Remember, American Indians were given "Christian" names to acclimate into society...
Our culture is ever-evolving, and that process is not going to end. One day, Omar or Carlos or Mohammad will be just as common and therefore 'accepted' as John or Josh.
my first name is shriram a pretty common name in india but not here, i still believe its the only reason why i havent been asked to "come on down" on the price is right though I have attended a few tapings. i put my name to be a constant on wheel of fortune last week we'll see how those "random" drawings go
we're talking about people's livelyhoods vs. getting ridiculded by some friends in school. the two aren't even close to being equal
I missed this the first go round, but since it is back up - the guy's last name was Young. If he went to Bellaire it must have been earlier because he was (at least) a senior at Sharpstown.
I forgot to think about the NFL... "LaDainian" "D'Brickashaw" - I wonder what his parents were thinking about when they named him?
Wink Martindale. I knew a guy in high school who was kind of psycho. After he changed schools, he legally changed his name to 'Virgil' and he ended up strangling his old computer teacher. What a shame. And then I've heard (can't confirm) the myth of the illiterate woman who had twins, a boy and a girl. their names: Male [molly] and Female [fe-molly] Why? Because that's what was written on the birth certificate. And then there was the author Richard Long. That's pretty tight.
Supposedly his father named him after Father Ralph de Bricassart, a character in The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough.
I have a common name, but it's an unusual spelling. I've always wondered if when people see my resume they think I made a typo. I've thought about just using the common spelling.
I hear about 10 Indian names a day that makes no sense At least not to me Perhaps would will come down off the high looking down on folx and realize It maybe. . .just maybe don't *need* to make sense to you and accept people as they are and accept their name as the name not an indicator of *anything* about them or their parents Rocket River
I like that my name (Clayton/Clay) isn't weird, obscure, or real unique but that it isn't really common either like Michael, John, or Chris. In high school, we had an assembly one day and it just happened that the 3 Clay's in the school were sitting together. The speaker's name was Clay too and he introduced himself to me before it started and asked my name. I responded "Clay". He thought that was a nice coincedence. The same scenario happened with the 2 other Clay's sitting next to me. The guy kind of started tripping thinking everyone in the school was named Clay. One of those guys was really named Claiborne, . . . as in Liz Claiborne. He was gay. I wonder why.
I know A girl named Desire too. I know a girl named Tourqoise too. I also saw the name of a guy on rivals.com named Yourhighness Morgan
I forgot - during an NFL draft recap I saw that the Colts picked a guy named Daymeion. Common name, horribly offensive spelling.
