This reminds me... I need to go buy some plantains and make some of these at home. Haven't had any in months.

Wouldn’t surprise me - she does like drugs… but in this case she showed me the receipt. Not much I could say after the fact. I wish it was a $300 dollar meal and she did $1,200 in blow, at least that would be better value.

The best part is that Mexican restaurants now charge for extra cheese, bc you know, the 1oz tiny cup of shredded cheese they give you with fajitas for 4 is supposed to last for 8 tortillas. I used to be able to get a ****ing bowl for no extra charge. What is this ****?

Kinda weird, bc I don't feel like prices have increased all that much for deli meats. Fresh fruit, produce, and vagina have significantly increased in price.

Consumer Price Index for Food (not seasonally adjusted)

The all-items Consumer Price Index (CPI), a measure of economy-wide inflation, rose by 0.8 percent from December 2022 to January 2023 and was up 6.4 percent from January 2022. The CPI for all food increased 0.7 percent from December 2022 to January 2023, and food prices were 10.1 percent higher than in January 2022.

The level of food price inflation varies depending on whether the food was purchased for consumption at home or away from home:

    • The food-at-home (grocery store or supermarket food purchases) CPI increased 0.8 percent from December 2022 to January 2023 and was 11.3 percent higher than January 2022; and
    • The food-away-from-home (restaurant purchases) CPI increased 0.6 percent in January 2023 and was 8.2 percent higher than January 2022.
Food prices are expected to grow more slowly in 2023 than in 2022 but still at above historical average rates. In 2023, all food prices are predicted to increase 7.9 percent, with a prediction interval of 5.5 to 10.3 percent. Food-at-home prices are predicted to increase 8.6 percent, with a prediction interval of 5.6 to 11.8 percent. Food-away-from-home prices are predicted to increase 8.3 percent, with a prediction interval of 7.1 to 9.6 percent.

So long as there is food, we can make it work. What are we going to do when there is no food?

I bought myself some baby back baby back baby back baby back ribs on a 2-for-1 deal at the grocery store. Thought I would make some of those chinese bbq pork ribs (first time). OMG...those things were tasty! I slow cooked 'em at 225 degrees for four hours (covered with tin foil), added a layer of chinese BBQ sauce, and broiled it (uncovered) for around 20 minutes or until the sauce started to crisp up. That shiyat was so good. OMG. Not bad for $7.50 per rack and the cost of sauce.

I've been bringing my lunch more to work and not doing door dash as often, hell you cant go to Chipolte without dropping $15.00 bucks for lunch, last week I paid over $10 bucks for a normal Number 1 which I thought used to be like $6.75

I am single and it sucks to cook for one, plus I suck at cooking

If we run out of food, we still have each other.

This cost of living crisis is bullshit. I usually buy beer in 4-packs because I like variety, which admittedly is an expensive way to buy beer.

Now because everything else costs so much I have to buy it in boxes to save a bit of coin. So instead of 6 different NEIPAs in a week I have 2.

    GODDAMNIT SILAS

If you really wanted to enjoy that IPA flavor and save money you could always buy a 30 pack of Busch and a bottle of pine sol

There's nothing wrong with a nice balanced IPA, but since I'm not sailing my clipper ship around the Cape of Good Hope to go visit my colonies in Asia without my barrels of beer spoiling, I really don't need the overwhelming "everything old is new again" trend of cramming as much hops as possible into a beer and rendering it into a chewable death brew.
