Turley is condemning $45 disclosed donations to Biden and PAC (assuming the information is accurate) as an ethics violation, while defending Supreme Court justices Alito and Thomas for accepting millions in undisclosed gifts and, as you mentioned, actively participating in politics. This is the MAGA logic that screams WTF?
So while investigating this book-keeping crime, they get a confession of a more severe crime and decide to pursue the lesser crime and make the dude who confessed to grand larceny the star witness. Anyone who says this isn't politically motivated is dishonest.
So to follow up on your last post you do think criminals should be allowed to testify. Would you agree in prosecuting a criminal conspiracy they would be necessary?
A key witness, not the star witness. Prosecution provided this info to defense. You don’t seem to understand how prosecution works. If you actually think Trump is cleaner than Cohen, you are dishonest, understandably so, since you are voting for Trump.
So when trump isn't tweeting out nazi messaging he is hoping the judge he attacks continually will do him a solid...
Interesting the chuck zito connection... former hell's angel, indicted for racketeering and drug trafficking, pled guilty to drug charges, friends with late syndicate mob boss john gotti. And with trump apparently.
The "Ruling Class"..... in Texas!!!..... Bahahahaha Meanwhile let's talk about how we have 9 Justices on the Texas Supreme Court, and how 4 of them were nominated by Rick Perry, and the other 5 by Gregg Abbott. These Texas MAGA Republicans are the biggest trolls in politics. Like ZERO shame. I guess you have to give them credit for giving zero Fcks.
It's rare that Trump will back down and listen to his lawyers. Smart decision. I don't live in NY but I am curious if the taxpayers are excited about pursuing an alleged class E felony while letting the related, admitted class C felony skate. The trial would have been much cheaper as well.
https://jonathanturley.org/2024/05/...rchan-becomes-an-oddity-in-his-own-courtroom/ Merchan has not given any indication that he is seriously considering a directed verdict, which he should clearly grant before this goes to the jury. Merchan's rulings have largely favored the prosecution, including some rulings that left some of us mystified. Judge Merchan continues to allow the jury to hear references to campaign-finance violations that do not exist. After gutting any use of a legal expert to testify on the absence of any such violations, the judge allowed the jury to hear Michael Cohen state that the payments to Stormy Daniels were clearly campaign violations. All that Merchan would offer is a weak instruction telling jurors not to take such statements as proof of a violation. The alleged campaign-finance violations allowed Cohen to try to implicate Trump. However, it is doubtful that Trump could have been convicted on such a charge in any other venue. ... Indeed, after reviewing the Trump payments, not only did the Justice Department decline any charges but the Federal Election Commission did not even seek a civil fine. On Monday, Judge Merchan's orders became even more inexplicable when Cohen's former attorney Robert Costello took the stand. Merchan immediately started to sustain a flurry of prosecutors' objections as Costello basically accused Cohen of multiple acts of perjury. At one point, Costello -- one of the most experienced lawyers in New York and a former prosecutor -- exclaimed that one of the judge's rulings was "ridiculous." The judge chastised Costello and even challenged him: "Are you staring me down?" In fact, it was hard not to stare. What is happening in the courtroom of Judge Juan Merchan is anything but ordinary.
