The Houston Chronicle endorsed Strayhorn for governor??

Gubanatorial politics still sound pretty interesting in TX. I have to admit I'm partial to Kinky because he has Dean Barkley as his campaign manager. For those who don't know Dean Barkley's history he was the guy who got Jesse Ventura to run for governor in MN and also helped him craft most of Ventura's policies and appointments and himself served as senator following Wellstone's death. While Ventura's personality and antics overshadowed his government many in Minnesota including myself thought he had a great administration that truly appointed people on merit rather than party affiliation while also having some great middle of the road policies that appealed to many across the political spectrum. At the same time the Ventura Admin. proposed some very fiscally sound budgets unlike what the Democratic Senate was proposing and what the Republican House leader and now governor have done.

If Dean Barkley has as much influence on a future Friedman Admin as he did on the Ventura Admin. Texas will be OK.
