peeved?? Not reallY I just passed on what I heard. To me TJ Ford will be like Houston's Lebron James with less Hype. He's a very marketable young man. having a smaller backcourt won't be too bad when you have a 7'5 Center. having Ford ,and Francis in the backcourt will cause matchup problems as well. Houston will have the quickest backcourt in the NBA. Get rid of Mobley will free up more touches for Ming. He will become the second option behind Francis. So for you guys to worry about Ford and his outside shooting that will come in time... he'll be the 3rd or 4th option. To see the outstanding play from Parker and Kidd it shows you that you need that true point for your Big Man. You can't get any better than Ford anytime soon. He's the next great point gaurd. Dude damn average 60 points a game in middle School! So you knew he was bound to be great.

The only way that backcourt works defensively is if Coach Brown turns them into chasers who cut off the passing lanes and force the opposing teams guards to drive inside right into the teeth of the Rocket D, Ming and some big defensive minded power forward who knows how to block shots. Then if you have TJ and Francis dogging and chasing with Posey and his long arms dogging, it might work. But Yao is gonna have to learn to stay away from foul trouble.

Even at that, I still see Kobe and the other top guard going off for 30+ every night.

According to realgm, they both have 4 years left. On the other hand, Mo has 4 years left as well, and given that we'll be over the cap for the foreseable future, if Les is willing to do it...why not? You're probably right about Francis still starting at the point for a few years. But it gives us much more depth, a better backcourt and a better frontcourt.

The picture is starting to come together. I really think there might be a lot of credibility to this scoop, given how fast the Rudy situation developed. What I am starting to believe happened is Rudy called up TJ, and promised him he would trade with Miami to get the #5 pick, and then take him. We all know he promised Rashard he would pick him, so Rudy has a history here. Now stick with me . . .

. . . Les lives in South Florida. So it didn't take long for him to hear about the offer from friends in Palm Beach over a shuffleboard game. For Les, this was the last straw. He knew Rudy was losing it, and that Rudy had a pathological problem with getting his kicks by making promises to young local area players, then leaving them crying in the green room. Kind of Rudy's version of Winona Ryder-type behavior. Rudy had found a way to cope with this tendency after the Rashard fallout, but then he relapsed after being weakened by the cancer treatment. Les didn't want the same fallout from seeing another Houston favorite crying on ESPN after Rudy picked "Sahsi" Vujacic with the #5 pick, leaving TJ to be sent to Clipper purgatory with the next pick. So he called CD from out of town, and told him to pull the plug on Rudy, before Rudy could do any more damage.

But now that Rudy's gone, TJ knows the trade will not happen. So he's 95% sure he is in fact going to Miami, and the entourage is packing up. So the pieces to the story all fit.

I think I'd rather see the Rockets go after the #3 pick and get Anthony. Looks like Denver is making some noise about not really wanting Anthony. If that is so, I would think the Rockets could put together a package for him, it would probably have to include Mobley though.

I know Anthony is young, but the guy has skills and is a basketball genius, not just basketball smart. He's already got the jumper. He's already got the passing skills. He already sees the bigger picture of taking what the defense gives him. And he's unselfish. I think I'd be willing to part with Mobley and somebody else for him and trash. I'd prefer that to T.J. Ford, although I think T.J. is the next John Stockton. Anthony is the next Magic Johnson playing at the 3.

I would trade anyone on the Rocket list not named Yao and Francis for Carmelo. Denver can add in their bad contracts to make the deal work too.

    -G'day-
