I agree with what he is saying, but I never thought white people could never say the word, they have as much right to say the word like black people do IMO if it is actually used as a term of endearment.

Context matters, I have white people who I have called my ***** for many years and don't care if they use the word if we are casually speaking.

So what friends are you having conversations with that include saying you thought you were living the Planet of the Apes because you where dropped of in a black neighborhood?

Or that black peoples brains are different?

How are saying and talking about stuff like that inevitable?

Couldn't get Rogen cancelled on the basis of misinformation, so doing the good old liberal trick of digging into old crap and using it to try to bury somebody now. Kind of pathetic. Anybody that provides some kind of platform for independent thought and discourse that goes against the grain of mainstream narrative and storytelling gets attacked.

It's amusing how many men get their masculinity cues from a 5 foot, bald guy.

Joe Rogan does have some great podcasts and guests but he is merely the male version of Gwyneth Paltrow.

Does it comfort you knowing that any decision Spotify makes with regards to whether to drop Rogan or keep him is solely dependent on whether Rogan being on their platform harms or hurts the shareholders interests to increase return on investment?

It seems like you are against the free market concept of the invisible hand when the invisible hand doesn't go your way.

It's up to private citizens if they want to keep on using a platform (Spotify) that keeps someone who refers to a congregation of black people as "planet of the apes" or spread Covid misinformation and if enough people stop using that platform which is the invisible hand speaking then the Spotify execs will handle the situation according to what benefits their shareholders the most in their goal for maximizing return on investment.

So what exactly here is your issue with our system of how things work?

If you’re not worried about being judged as a racist by the people you’re speaking with, then you are more likely to say something that is racist — and given enough time I think racist things will inevitably be said. Whether they are genuinely held beliefs or just fleeting thoughts that aren’t seriously held.

I can totally see the racist Planet of the Apes remark being made in a non-serious manner among friends. Sensitivities over stuff like that has ramped up considerably in the last 10 years.

If someone feels comfortable with the (racist) idea that Black bodies or musculature is different, then they may similarly feel at ease at putting out the (also racist) idea that black brains are different.

In case of doubt, y'all should be against cancel culture and woko haram.

If someone said something stupid, but it's clear it doesn't define who they are, stop trying to silence them, especially if they apologize.

That's the one beautiful thing about how Clutch created the D&D.

We are all monkeys flinging poo, but he doesn't (except in the most extreme cases, I guess, maybe) "cancel" people in this part of the forum because of their opinions.

Dude you can listen to the clip yourself, and it's obvious he's saying going to the black theater was like he was in the Planet of the Apes.
He was not among friends he did it on a public podcast, how can you equate black people with apes in a non-serious manner and feel comfortable enough to do it in a public setting?

How can you in any way defend black people being called Apes?

Why would anyone feel comfortable saying Black musculature is different, let alone brains?

And this from a workout guy who is supposed to know a lot about human physiology, do you think Black musculature is different?

I haven't seen a single post trying to silence Joe nor is it even possible. If spotify kicks him off the platform he goes anywhere else, no issues.

My issue here is with some people (not even on this forum but in general) celebrating Whoopie getting suspended and then turning around and defending Joe.

My other issue here is some people think Joe shouldn't even apologize at all. If I'm black and someone insults my entire race and expects my respect after doing so then F that person. Period. End of story. If someone insults you my guess is you would hold it against that person until they apologized AND even still you might not accept their apology. This is no different.

People feel insulted and when people feel insulted they will either say something back or just be done with you or do both in that order until the person that said the insult apologized or made an effort to make right with that person.

Spotify has to make a business decisions on their own. They are only going to cancel Joe if it looks like people are leaving spotify in droves or of...for instance, a bunch of prominent black musicians like Beyonce or someone said they were pulling their music off then Spotify would have to make that decision. It wouldn't be 'cancel' culture or anything, it's individuals and corporations making their own decisions.

When It Comes To Joe Rogan, The Real N-Word That Matters Is ‘No’

    https://thefederalist.com/2022/02/07/when-it-comes-to-joe-rogan-the-real-n-word-that-matters-is-no/

    excerpt:

    Censorship By Proxy
In this case, the target is big enough that he cannot be thoroughly eradicated, but his power can be diminished. The guest lists can be more restricted. The corporate sponsorships can disappear. Rogan can be forced from Amazon servers, his clips from Google and YouTube, sharing of his work banned by Facebook and Twitter, and all will be legal and allowable and fine according to all the people who don’t know what time it is.

It is an approach particularly familiar to those who have engaged in lengthy court cases in recent years battling for their right to exercise their religious freedom. If you run any kind of business which achieves success without genuflecting to the right causes, the powers that be — media, academic, administrative, bureaucratic, legal — will be turned on you. Comply, or your access is cut off. Self-censor, or else.

    As George Orwell wrote:

The chief danger to freedom of thought and speech at this moment is not the direct interference of … any official body. If publishers and editors exert themselves to keep certain topics out of print, it is not because they are frightened of prosecution but because they are frightened of public opinion. In this country intellectual cowardice is the worst enemy a writer or journalist has to face … The sinister fact about literary censorship in England is that it is largely voluntary.

Unpopular ideas can be silenced, and inconvenient facts kept dark, without the need for any official ban … the same kind of veiled censorship also operates in books and periodicals, as well as in plays, films, and radio. At any given moment there is an orthodoxy, a body of ideas which it is assumed that all right-thinking people will accept without question. It is not exactly forbidden to say this, that or the other, but it is “not done” to say it … Anyone who challenges the prevailing orthodoxy finds himself silenced with surprising effectiveness. A genuinely unfashionable opinion is almost never given a fair hearing, either in the popular press or in the highbrow periodicals.

What is positive for Americans who favor freedom of thought is that the problem of the Cathedral is now a well-established fact, receiving universal recognition. The threat, once dismissed, is now known. What we lack are uniting solutions.
