Sure it's extremely unfair but it comes with the territory. Being rich and famous in NBA has its prices and I am very certain that Tmac is not losing any sleep over all of us whining fans. I don't hate Tmac. I am just freaking jealous.
Tmac is not getting as many lucrative endorsement deals now but do you really think he cares? Lest we forget, Yao is so filthy rich now that I am noticing he is not going all out like he used to as well. NBA is a business except for the fans.
When a player makes $21 Million and does not produce it hurts your team. You could get 2 really good players for what Tracy is making. Here is an example of what some of the other players earn: Carmelo Anthony $14,410,581 / Andre Iguodala $11,300,000 / Chris Paul $4,574,189 Steve Nash $12,250,000 / Chris Bosh $14,410,581 / Brandon Roy $3,084,240 Joe Johnson $14,232,566 When a player makes the kind of money that Tracy makes you expect results. We have not gotten anything but first round exits. Tracy is like a golden anchor that is not letting your ship get to its destination.
teeheehehehe, that's cool, tan. let's spell names wrong, ton. of course he's a part of the team. he's a good part too. the show is defintely deserving of an emmy. But, I didn't see Kenny Smith bust up Bob Costas for anything. Bob Costas is pretty damn good. Nothing agaisnt Kenny, because he's damn good on the show. but the way you word it, it makes it sound like Darko scored 40 points and grabbed 20 rebounds to help destroy the Lakers. I know you like to exaggerate a wee bit, ten, but that makes you, you. i guess... teheheh, so funny! VENESSA.
but understand the long term contact issues, and you really think cp3 will continue make 4millions? and brandon roy 3mils? steve nash 12mils? cp3 and roy are better than nash but nash make more than them, this part of nba, the business part, and a long term contact do for you. Also, most of those player once their contact expire its going to get more or less.
My argument isn’t whether Brandon Roy gets a better contract in 2011. My argument is that the $21 million that we spent on Tracy, could have easily been spent on getting a couple of really good players. My point is that money is an issue. I only mentioned 7 players, but I could have mentioned a lot more. Tracy’s salary limits us to what we can get during the free agency period. In fact, we got very lucky when Carl Landry hurt his knee last year, otherwise, we wouldn’t be able to afford to keep him. Tracy’s salary represents 28% of the team’s total salary. A large salary like that can have a huge affect on what a general manager can do. Do you know why we have undersized power forwards? Because undersized power forwards are cheaper than tall athletic power forwards. Another thing to think about is Von Wafer. Tracy’s salary may prevent us from signing Von Wafer next year. Von may get offers between 3-5 million. Can the Rockets afford that? Is Tracy worth the amount of money he makes? Has he taken the Rockets anywhere. The answer to these questions is no.
T Mac is the 7th highest paid player in the entire league. I don't think anything more needs to be said.
I would not have given Tracy the extension. At that time, Tracy was still having back problems and had never accomplished anything. The Rockets gambled and lost. Plus, I never thought that Tracy was a top 5 player. Tracy’s stats never transferred over to the team. For instance, Tracy’s averaged 28 points per game in 2003, which was his second best season, however his team only won 21 games. Tracy left the following season and Orlando won 15 more games. How does a team get better when a top 5 player leaves? Because he never made his teammates better when he was in the game, and because his defense countered his offensive production.
I think the extension was warranted......sometimes you gamble and you lose. So far with Tmac, it has been a toss up as to win or lose with the extension. DD
The bias and unnecessary hate is definitely shown in the thread about him leaving practice with an ankle injury.
that's you. many considered him to be a top 5 player then, and at the time all-nba. again, hindsight is 20/20.
You can't cry over spilled milk, at the time, Tmac was one of the best players in the league and worth the money. Even last year it was arguable as to whether he was worth his contract.... Once he gets through the issue and builds his muscle strength and more importantly his confidence back, he could be worth it again. I expect him to have a great year next year....it is a CONTRACT year after all. DD
