seems about right for those who said sample size the espn graphic is over the last two seasons and given the restrictions on the set of circumstances -- 21 shots seems to be enough to say i mean the majority of the games over the past two season probably did not even have the situation arise where in the last 24 seconds of OT or the 4th quarter a shot needed to be taken to tie/win the game.
At this point in his career, I don't think he is ... BUT two questions. 1. How many players would you take over him in a last second shot? 2. How many of those players are worth special attention on defense, such as spy defenses, double/triple teamed defense, or a concerted effort to not get the ball in his hands.
CP3/Durant/Melo/Dirk/Lebron Yeah, it's not to say that Kobe isn't clutch, more that in crunch time he gets tunnel-vision and he doesn't have the athleticism to rise up from anywhere anymore.
He seems to be much more efficient in the 4th quarter with more than 2 minutes left......but once it gets down to true crunch time as in make it and you win he isn't very good at all. Stats do not lie.
but don't you want your best player taking the final shot? He has just missed a lot of them as of late.(insert madden pic)
1. 10 easily. Likely more if I started to count. 2. At least as many as are better than him. Besides, if someone, instead of making the smart play and passing the ball to an open teammate, will shoot even when double/triple teamed, it makes sense to reduce his chances as much as possible by double/triple teaming him.
Jim Paxson and Steve Kerr hit some big game winning shots because Jordan passed the ball to them. You want your best player to make the final play, not necessary shoot the final shot. A wide open role player shooter has a much better chance of hitting the shot than your double/triple-teamed superstar. But you need your superstar to draw the defense.
