I think most people who actually get it legally, stick with it (or at least re-subscribe when a new season of a hit show comes back). Its also never been easier to access it via mobile devices/streaming... and now you don't even need a cable subscription to sign up. But not every show on there is great... the last few seasons of True Blood were some of the worst written/acted/produced episodes ever to air on any television-like device ever.
Nowadays when you switch your cable / satellite providers, you will automatically get 3 months of HBO free, and once your contract will be up and you call in to cancel it, they will probably lower your fee and also throw in HBO for free also. The HBO access now is much wider than before, I would guess HBO may have changed their marketing strategies and fee structure a bit also. HBO nowadays has so many self production material, they are far from just movie channels, its not a surprise that they would like to expand the access of viewers.
I got it legally (free for 3 months) but I'm definitely cancelling after Hard Knocks. No way I'm paying for it. That's just me.
Ok... explains the impetus for your post above then. Don't worry, HBO still has plenty of people who like their programming.
Didn't know about O'Brian's son. That just sucks. From the first 3 episodes, my respect for O'Brian has significantly increased.
In BoB's hiring press conference he answered a question about his son's condition and conceded that the close proximity of TMC was a factor in deciding to take the job.
Rick Reilly did a special on Jack last year on ESPN. <script src="http://player.espn.com/player.js?playerBrandingId=4ef8000cbaf34c1687a7d9a26fe0e89e&adSetCode=91cDU6NuXTGKz3OdjOxFdAgJVtQcKJnI&pcode=1kNG061cgaoolOncv54OAO1ceO-I&width=576&height=324&externalId=espn:11735918&thruParam_espn-ui[autoPlay]=false&thruParam_espn-ui[playRelatedExternally]=true"></script>
Ugh. I've seen this spot several times and still teared up watching it again. MAD respect for the O'Brien family.
This season may make my wife a diehard, which is awesome. All I have to do is tell her JJ was in tgw last episode, and she watches. O'Brien is growing on her, and she didn't realize the story about his son. As a nurse, it really caught her attention.
Wife already thought JJ was hot, now she thinks Clowney is. Anything for her to love the Texans over the Cowboys.
That's actually not a bad thing for Rick to be in terms of his position and personality. At least we saw BoB actually seems to seek Ricks input on player personnel and obviously Rick does the same with BoB. As long as the coach and GM get along and are on the same page and the GM provides a solid link between the Coach(and his ideas) and the owner. Meh I'm cool with Rick being a yes man. SSSssshhhh. Don't let the Cushing can do no wrong ppl see that. I will say I was slightly amused by him talking trash to ODaniels but otherwise he is just one of those people/players that annoy the crap out of me. I feel like it was something out of a South Park episode. Wasn't there an episode a while back where a character was puking for an extended period of time? Or maybe it was some other show but either way yeah, that was a bit much. I'd rather watch the surgery on the Falcons player from last season. You might as well just delete the last sentence. If they dare put EZ on the practice squad, he won't be on there for long because some other team(Carolina perhaps? ) would swipe him off it fairly quickly imo. Yeah no man, I gotta disagree. It was a nice episode but best ever? Nah. There were some quality episodes in the last Cowboys HK season and in the Jets season. I will say the decision to put the BoB family scene towards the end was great. Help those non Texans fans(and the Texans fans that didnt know) who hadn't heard about his sons situation to get a better idea of what BoB and his family deal with.
