Did you know his Dad used to coach in the NFL? If you ever meet him or listen to him on the radio, you will know that fact within 10-20 seconds. I actually think he opens conversations with it.

Lance Z can get annoying at times but thank god he's not as bad as Josh Innes, that guy was radio AIDS.

At least Lance Z sometimes brings really good information and analysis....it's just that he's really brutal when he misses the mark.

Don't really get the hate for LZ. Can he be wrong sometimes? Sure, but he's just giving his opinion on what he sees, and in my book his opinion holds a lot more weight than any other Houston sports media person.

I mean go look up any draft prospect on nfl.com from the previous draft and you'll see Lances name underneath. He's clearly worked his way up in the NFL world

He does have legit insight from time to time, but I think all of the "hate" is from when he ends up wrong. I imagine if I was ever wrong about something, people would say the same about me.

I'm curious as to what sports radio personality ever provides regular "inside info"?

I think we are confusing them with beat writers and insiders (NFL.com, ESPN.com, team specific). Sports radio personalities are paid to observe and give opinions and that is what Lance does; I do respect the amount of study he puts in.

As a listener I hate LZ because he can't talk without coughing or clearing his throat. I guess the ability to talk clearly in Houston radio is not that important.

I can't take him serious because he has an identity crisis. Either you want to be a comedian or an NFL insider. You can't be both LZ. I don't see Schefter or Woj doing voice impressions and sophomoric jokes. What's it going be LZ?

-edit- also he talked **** about CF and it's posters when we all knew he would steal info from this site uncredited. acted like a b**** when he got called out by clutch.

In this case, his "study" was based on Hard Knocks footage and blatant speculation.

He may be going to these practices... but he did not base his Clowney report on that. The Clowney comments were strictly on how his hands looked in the HK footage.

I don't expect much from Sports radio peoples... but this whole HK season (and the amount they spend analyzing every excerpt of it) is certainly marginalizing their "expertise" to simply that of a common fan making comments on a tv show they just watched, nothing more... nothing less.

"Lock the thread Clutch, lock the thread."

Go clear your throat somewhere else Lance. IP ban on 610 was a glorious day.

Man, that's not true at all. He has sources with the team. He's also friends with Harris & Pendergrast who have direct access to the team, the difference is, Lance doesn't have to put on a 610 filter.

Daryl Morey is in his fantasy league... his dad works with the NFL... he writes for NFL.com... Adam Caplan used to do shows with him regularly before ESPN signed him... he has connections. Stop butthurting so hard.

Doesn't the team practice while he is doing his radio show?

Rewatching the show from last night.

Confirms that I freakin love BOB. Hetero type way.

Also Cushing is the man. Possibly my favourite Texan of all time. I really hope he comes back this year in a big way. Crazy considering you can search through here and find that I absolutely hated it when we picked him.

Nuk has a great personality. Way different than what I thought.

    Also, love Charles James's attitude.

I wish they'd focus more on some of the bubble guys.

I get it, but that's just kind of what they do. Whatever the current hot topic is, they are going to give their opinion on it. Hard Knocks is a huge sports topic in Houston right now and is providing not-before-seen access to our team, so of course the hosts and callers are going to want to talk about it.

I didn't hear the Clowney hands comments so can't really comment much more on that.

Bottom line is in most cases they aren't insiders or experts, just avid fans or psuedo-reporters who have a good radio voice. I wouldn't necessarily call Lance an expert in NFL even though he is vastly more knowledgeable than most. If you aren't interested in the topics, switch the station or put on some music...that's what I do. There is only so much fresh and quality discussion that they can give over the course of 3/4 hours, 5 days a week.

Agree on all, awesome. And loved the episode

Yeah, but they probably have to make it watchable to the general public and not just Texans fans. I think that requires a decent amount of star/semi-star focus
