Nice work! By the way, is this the first time a piece of John Tesh music got sampled by hip-hop artists?
I posted this in another thread before I noticed this thread dedicated to your Yao video. So I have to give you props here to. And I'll definitely give it my vote for best Yao video ever. Here's what I wrote in the other post: VERY NICE, m_cable! I loved it! Somehow, I missed these two, but man, the single-handed rebound-dunks were HOT! That was just awesome! To keep control over the ball on a one-handed rebound enough to come down with it and immediately go back up and slam it...DANG...that's just HOT! And m_cable, you gave it the perfect ending! No better way to close the show than with a perfect Dreamshake! Forget the Shanghi-Shake--Yao definitely took a couple notes from Dream!
loved the video m_cable. thanks man. i have a suggestion for whoever does another vid. how about a montage of Yao and Hakeem next to each other doing the "shake"? i would love to see a split screen of fakes, shakes, and spins.
I once had an idea for a Yao movie where I put some clips of great centers of the past doing their signature moves (i.e. Kareem with the Sky Hook, Wilt with his Finger-roll, Walton with some sweet dishes, Dream with some of his moves etc.) and then put Yao after each doing his own variation of that move. And make the theme of the project as "Passing the torch" or something like that. But quality clips of the old-timers are pretty rare, so the project never got off the ground. But then again, none of my video mix ideas got off the ground until this one. I was always a bit intimidated over having to learn how to use the mixing software, but last week, I just said "screw it" and committed myself to do this project. Using the Windows Movie Maker program ended up being much easier than I thought. This is actually the first video mix I've ever made. So having the great response gives me a lot of confidence and positivity for the future. Thanks again, everybody.
I really liked the way you grouped similar moves together. Like, showing all jump hook highlights, all his turnaround highlights, all his put-back dunk highlights, etc. You earned the thread title, in my opinion.
That was one of the main ways that I was able to keep the project organized in my mind. I would break down the entire video into specific components, and then work on mixing one section at a time. Then I mixed and matched the sections in different orders until I got what I liked. Though certain parts were timed to the music, so I had to work around that. It's kind of like a big free-flowing puzzle. One section, I'm particular proud of is where I showed Yao's entire repetoire at busting people up in the post. They're all set on the Right Block, West side of the court. And it basically shows Yao taking guys to school, hook shots, fadeaways, Shanghai Shakes, and ends with a wicked pump-fake drop-step for a nasty jam. That was a good one.
M_cable, was this the first one you made? Amazing, it was very good. You should make more. One question, what is the name of the song (I think I am the only one who doesn't know it )
I hate to say this but what's so great about this video mix? It was okay at best. I think you guys should stop kissing m_cable's butt.......you YOFs need to get a life. LOL. Just kidding. That video mix was the GREATEST VIDEO ASSEMBLED IN THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF THE WHOLE UNIVERSE!!!!!!!!!! AIN'T NO WAY THEY CAN, NO!!!!!!!!....... AIN'T NO WAY THEY CAN, NO!!!!!!!!....... AIN'T NO WAY THEY CAN, NO!!!!!!!!....... AIN'T NO WAY THEY CAN, NO!!!!!!!!....... AIN'T NO WAY THEY CAN STOP ME NOW YEAH CAUSE I'M ON MY WAY I CAN FEEL MY REIGN COMING!!!!!!!!
Anyone that watches this video and does not feel VERY LUCKY that Yao is on our team is simply missing the boat. Yao is a very hard working, dedicated person, and will lead this team to the promised land. Healthy TMac, Yao and Battier.....oh man....all you need to do is add role players and the chemistry will EXPLODE ALL OVER THE LEAGUE !! This is our time baby !!! WIN NOW !! DD
Awesome mix! My two favorite Yao clips are the behind the back dribble against Portland and when he got his first technical for dunking all over Theo Ratliff in Atlanta, which is also in the video.
Windows Movie Maker. It seems to be a popular choice, probably due to it's ease of use. I picked it up in about 15-30 minutes by just following a small little walkthrough, that I just googled up off the net. Some of the features are kind of restrictive though, the beginning and ending credits especially. But all in all, it was a good program for my needs.
The video features a few spin moves. I think Yao should use it more frequently. I am here talking about his spin move in the paint to the basket, not the baseline spin (even though it is very effective too). The defender behind him will have no chance at all. How can you stop a 7'5" 310lbs guy who is spinning towards you with the momentum?
If you'll indulge me in a bit of ego stroking. Yao Ming: Liftoff is a hit. It's had over 11K hits in the day and a half that it's been up, and is currently sitting at #33 in most views at Youtube for today (And climbing. It was in the 40's a few hours ago). How cool is that. I'm sure you guys are a big part of that, and I'm very appreciative. Thanks everybody. Keep it up. LOL.
