Wrestlemania 2000 for N64 is another good multi-player. This game has inspired countless arguments, loads of trash talking and two near altercations among me and my friends. The elusive "Burly Title" is very prestigious.
In no particular order: Street Fighter II Champion Edition (arcade) Tekken (arcade) RBI Baseball (good choice Timing) (NES) Punch-Out (arcade) Pac-Man (arcade) Donkey Kong (arcade) Legend of Zelda (NES) Metroid (NES) Double Dragon (arcade) Hie Yar Kung Fu (sp?) (arcade) Centipede (arcade) Strider (Sega Genesis) Anyone remember Strider? I don't know if there was an arcade version, but man, the Sega Genesis version was awesome. I loved near the end fighting against a giant robot Gorilla!
Older generation: 1.) Zelda - This game is just epic. 2.) Bases Loaded - When I was ten me and three friends played this every day. 3.) Super Tecmo Bowl - same thing as above 4.) Castlevania - another epic game Newer Gerneration: 1.) Resident Evil 1 & 2 - Never been so spooked by a video game. 2.) Tomb Raider 1 - I love the freedom this game gave you. Ground-breaking! 3.) Grand Theft Auto III - I had a lot of fun playing this...but never finished. 4.) NBA 2K2 - Best...sports...game...ever! Actually, all those are just the runners-up. Come on people! Nothing else can even hold a candle to the last two Metal Gear Solid games!

Anyone (old enough) remember the cartoon-like games you used to find at the arcade? Yeah, we all know about Dragon's Lair and Space Ace (I love Don Bluth, the guy behind the Secret of Nimh), but does anyone remember the insanely cool game called Cobra Command? It's an anime-like cartoon game with you at the controls of a helicopter. I remember you started out at the siege of NYC (with a force attacking the Statue of Liberty). From there, you shot down other helicopters while avoiding buildings ("turn left!!! Turn right!!!"). That's pretty much all I remember, unfortunately. Great game, though... Go here and here to learn more...
Strider ruled!!! There was an arcade version, and man was it beautiful. It's aged pretty gracefully too.
Yea its coming to PC, it prob needs a lot of memory, but my comp wouldnt be able to handle it anyways lol, luckily i have it for PS2!
I thought you had to register and pay to see certain movies and stuff on it? I cant really remember what was on it, i was on it like a year ago, and right now its not loading the site.
Here's my top 20 list. As you can see, it's pretty biased in favor of Nintendo. 1) Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) 2) Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) 3) GoldenEye 007 (N64) 4) Perfect Dark (N64) 5) Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES) 6) Super Metroid (SNES) 7) Final Fantasy IX (PSX) 8) Super Mario Kart (SNES) 9) Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (SNES) 10) Final Fantasy VI/III (SNES) 11) Zelda: Majora's Mask (N64) 12) Chrono Trigger (SNES) 13) Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PSX) 14) Super Mario World (SNES) 15) Metal Gear Solid (PSX) 16) Final Fantasy VII (PSX) 17) Silent Hill (PSX) 18) Vagrant Story (PSX) 19) Super Mario 64 (N64) 20) Tetris Attack (SNES) Honorable Mentions - Alundra (PSX), Banjo-Kazooie (N64), Metroid (NES), Kid Icarus (NES), Galaga (Arcade), Street Fighter II Turbo (SNES, Arcade), Soul Calibur (Dreamcast), Dragon Warrior VII (PSX), Final Fantasy IV/II (SNES), Resident Evil 2 (PSX), Tecmo Super Bowl (NES)
these are just some that come to mind... there are so many, it's hard to pick one or a few. "video game" is a pretty broad genre. I will say that the Atari company always blew me away.. they were innovators and seemed to help set the standard. Missile Command Centipede Pole Position Asteroids Galaga Dragons Lair (not necessarily greatest, but innovative technology, at the time) Rally X Defender Joust Frogger Knock-Out BattleZone STAR CASTLE Pitfall Load Runner Counter Strike Myst NBA Live games Quake and many, many more...
man i keep reading all these responses and keep thinking of more great games i love. well lets get one thing straight, number 1 is and always will be Tecmo Super Bowl. I've played too many hours of it, and still do, for anything to ever replace it. Who needs graphics, the gameplay kicked ass, it kept tons of stats, you could play a whole season, preseason, pro bowls, skp, man, coach (never did that), com. Playing with friends is awesome cuz there's so much strategy with picking the plays. That's another thing, part of its beauty is its simplicity. 8 plays, push A to change receiver, B to pass, A to breaks tackles or tackle. That's about all you need to know along with how to juke people (i am officially the king of juking people). I've played so many hours it really should be illegal. At this point, I just play to achieve perfection because I kick the computer's ass so bad. working on a 7000 yd, 100+ td season with barry sanders. i'm pretty sure i could play with san fran blindfolded at this point. damn i love this game, and apparently so do a lot of others. another kickass thing is my nintendo is still pretty much in perfect working condition and so is the tecmo super bowl game (and pretty much my other 15 games) and now to the number 2 by a long way, GTA3. as someone who didn't play many games after the SNES, moving on up to PS2 could be the reason i'm so impressed but really, this game kicks so much ass it's unreal. hell, the non-mission part of the game is sometimes more fun than the real game. Just steal cars and drive really fast for as long as possible w/o hitting anything. go over jumps. crash cars till they blow up. beat as many people with a bat as you can. get as many stars for the cops as possible w/o being caught. and then the missions kick ass too. this game just blew me away. No real order at this point, just some awesome games. Super Mario Bros - its the original, gotta show it some love. still get a kick out of playing it. fastest i ever beat it was 4 minutes. the nostalgia factor is just too high to not have it on this list. Super Mario Bros 3 - very high quality game. love playing it, actually kinda challenging still. not sure what happened with SMB 2, just too different. Mike Tyson's Punchout - very high quality game. the first people are just fun to kill, then it starts getting serious at sandman. don't think i ever got to beat tyson (did go the distance once), wish there was a working copy i could play. Bases Loaded - remember how my NES games still work, well my friend had this game and his NES was a game destroyer so you can't go more than half an inning till this freezes up now. loved this game. Rampage - i found this in an arcade at a colorado hotel when i was like 8 or something. played it a lot and loved it so much. since i wasn't much into arcading, i only played it like one other time (also usually never saw it anywhere) and rented it once for NES. something about destroying a whole city that rules. Paper Boy - thanks for mentioning this Timing. haven't played it in forever, don't even have it, but still quality. Super Contra - very challenging, love the spread gun. Tetris - classic Joust - not sure why i love it so much, just do Smash Brothers on N64 - an N64 game i actually no longer suck at, 4 player action is the best good to see how much people still love the old NES games, they were classic.
I like Fades list. I'll go with that format too ... NES 1. SMB3 2. Metroid 3. Punch Out honorable mention - Final fantasy SNES 1. FF3 2. Chrono Trigger 3. Zelda honorable mention - Super Metroid(best intro for a game EVER though) PSX 1. Final Fantasy Tactics 2. MGS 3. Final Fantasy 7 honorable mention - Crash Team Racing DC 1. Grandia 2 2. Skies of Arcadia 3. Phantasy Star Online honorable mention - Jet Grind Radio PS2 well, out of my limited library so far ... 1. FFX 2. Ico Arcade 1. Galaga 2. Street Fighter 2, Championship edition 3. 1. Goldeneye- It never gets old, thanks especially to its multiplayer mode. 2. Perfect Dark- Takes Goldeneye and improves upon it. Even better multiplayer. 3. tie- Zelda, Ocarina of Time- A brilliant experience. Zelda- Majora's Mask- Just as fun as Ocarina. 4. NBA 2k series- Extremely easy, but still addictive. 5. Tetris- especially good with portable devices like the Gameboy. I've never been able to get into computer games, but Snood is fun.
Goldeneye is sweet, Perfect Dark is even better! Snood is an awesome game, i dont remember how i found it, maybe off downloads.com, but i got addicted to it for a short period
GTA is amazing!!! Can't go wrong with the Mario series. But you didn't like FF IX? Others- FF III Tetris Twisted Metal 2 Mortal Kombat
