Well-stated. Can't argue with that. The whole "Barry is better" argument is true, but it doesn't mean Emmitt wasn't an all-time great in his own right. Can't punish a guy for luckily being a member of a few great teams.

this argument doesn't even fit in this context. no one argues if robert horry is one of the greatest forwards in NBA history because he has rings, they argue that he should be in the hall because he has rings.

emmitt smith has nfl records, therefore that's his argument for being one of the greatest rbs eva.

i think you're mistaking the comment as an argument.

That is basically what I said. You can't argue with durability and consistency.

I wasn't arguing with your post but I think you missed my point. Yes its durablity and consistency, but there is a fair amount of talent there. I'm sure there are running backs that never got hurt from any era that have no where near the career, from high school to hall of fame. he was always out in front.

edit: I wasn't arguing or repeating.

I know, I wasn't arguing either. Just reiterating that Emmitt Smith does deserve to be in the Top 8 G.O.A.T. based on his accomplishments, and yes of course he had world-class talent.

He may have never wowed with devastating power like Jim Brown or ridiculous moves like Barry, but he had a low center of gravity and great vision that allowed him to take full advantage of the outstanding offensive line he was afforded for the majority of his career.

Earl is in my top five, maybe top three. He was just unbelievable. I think longevity is the issue that rates him lower.
